I’m interested in the chain of medical care setup in Afghanistan .
When the man shouts “Medic” who does he get?
Answer: If any first have to wait for for safety when safe to operate or get to you, but most defenatly the closest partner (few have trained EMT medics in a role ) not saying all but few alot of vehicles do have full EMT equipment such as fluids, field dressings, tourniquets etc..but few have the skills to really use them
What skills will this individual have?
Answer basic first aid training if any, how to put on a first aid bandage or to use a tourniquet but thats it. If lucky you have a army paramedic in your team or you work with locals that dont touch blood!!! (middle east)
Are there field hospitals prior to transfer to the trauma big centres?
Answer: Yes the companies (atleast some do have prior arrangements with smaller medical centres/ local hospitals
What is the setup at each level and what are the facilities.
Answer: This variates from hospital/support center but everything from a local hospital with an emergency clinic, to a rented house with beds and medical trained paramedics with medical equipment such as fluid, defibrillators etc..

Answer: Far from every company have this sorted but ISAF medivac is atleast a second option not for all I think? others here might have more information. But I do know that companies have RMSI-Australian medical support center in Kabul, others use German Hospital etc.
If needed treatment outside country ISAF arrange transfer and many end up at the US Army hospital in Germany (some countries do ask them to get the operatives home asap when they can travel for best treatment)
