Working for overseas Marsec Companies

Hi Guys

Like many, im completely new to this! I left the Marines seven years ago and got intouch with an ex boss (who had set up his own Security coy) in the hope of getting a heads up/reference. I have now found myself speaking to a HR lady overseas who it appears is in a hurry to get me onboard! I am told i can do my relevant courses after my initial assignment as i will therfor have the cash to cover the expense! I am concerned with the lack of knowledge and it seems quite hard to find out all nescessary info! Im not after a full Nato sequence of orders, im just a tad concerned at the concept of potentially going to war with no weapon, lack of support and high likelyhood of an enemy encounter!

Am i right to be concerned or am i being a wuss?? Does anyone have a comprehensive list of do's and donts or do i need to visit every thread?

Thanks guys

XB

Hi XB. You should address your concerns with the company you are about to work for. Unless there is another operative on here working for the same company and detail, you'll not get a straight answer to your questions, only general advice. We don't know your weapon situation or the logistics of your detail. We can only offer speculative advice on the questions you ask. You will get some great advice on kit lists and what to expect, but every detail has it's own unique challenges. Do trawl through the threads but buyer beware. There are some walts on here who will fill your head with shit. Try and ask the moderators for advice, they know the cats on here and may be able to hook you up a credible source. Good luck and well done on the job.

Then what was the death threat and an explosion of comments last week about the guy who wanted to know about Glock cleaning? I'm not being contentious.

You are correct in being slightly worried but to be honest this was my position when I started. You'll find that they are prob desperate for bums on seats. They are prob sending you with a strong TL and you will learn more on your first job than any SSO course can teach. Its not like doing CP in Afgahn etc your stuck on a big vessel, TL will run through everything, you'll take your turn to stag on, anything happens he will be first up to the bridge and take over. Don't worry to much

TL has a lot to worry about. You:

Be diligent on watch
Look smart
Be polite to officers/Crew
Work hard when vessel hardening/don't drip
Ask member of team about something if not sure

ou'll be fine!

I would asked what kind of tarnsit they want you to go on as its not all big vessels and high freeboards, truth is you could be on a fishing vessel of the Seychelles or on a Private Yacht both which have no external hardening due to the nature of the vessel. Then there are gun boats/escort vessels and Tugs. All have there differences so knowing what kind of vessels you would be working on would give you a good starting point. As stated above there is lots of good information on this forum and a lot of the guys on here know there stuff. Good luck what ever happens.
Merry Christmas

Is this for real???
