Any RMP here?

22 years in RMP left Oct 06 from LONDIST did plenty of CP / Security in London during my last 5 years there to get the Civvy/Commerical CP/Security experience on CV. CP Tours Beirut, Algiers, Iraq (Green) and CPU Instructor. Now training & development manager for a company training Iraqi National Police. Got SIA licence thro 3 day resettlement course.
Very useful site.

Having left in 88 after 22 years, well 24 years 198 days to be exact, can someone enlighten me what is this CPU you all talk about, Im presuming that its to do with Longmoor, however when I di dCP , we were seconded from our unit to do specific jobs unless of course you were part of 177 in NI or 6 Sp pl in BAOR in which I was the CSM for 2 years.

CO19 - small world nice to hear from you.
FDJ 12 - CPU is RMP, Close Protection Unit ie Longmoor. Coy's use to complain they lost manpower on CP tours so if you were on a FCO tour you got posted to CPU so that your unit could get a replacement for you from manning and records to cover the pre deployment training, pre deployment leave (if any)deployment and post deployment leave which could all add up to 10 months or more if you qualified for renleave and had leave to carry over etc. It's just a numbers game. All Instructors and support staff were posted to CPU as a unit in its own right and not part of RMPTC as you would know it. Hope this helps. Green Tours were done from home units but still PDT, kit & weapon issue and issues on tour dealt with by CPU albeit sometimes limited.

Just over 23yrs in RMP, left in Nov 06, following my final tour at the Embassy in Baghdad, worked with 'Hippo' in a few places and took over from his team in Basrah in 04. Now working as a Security Advisor for a large Media Gp, mostly in Baghdad but, also all the other 'nice' places you hear about on the news of late. Don't miss the old job...

hello Mate, I am part of the unwashed masses at the moment. I was waiting for a start date for the police and received a letter yesterday saying they are not taking anyone on til april 2009 now, Gutted!

Have spent all day emailing my cv to cp companies as i ned a job now. I hav'nt worked since sep last year as I was concentrating on joining the police force.

Hey Ho, its just like being in RMP, training and building your hopes up for that course/deployment etc only to be let down at last minute.

If you want to send me your CV to look at, I'll be happy to. Have done it for a few people and have a few contacts I can stick it to? PM me and we can go from there.

Whats your old TL from Basrah doing these days? I have someone with me who is asking...

I remember the ADC you're on about as well, a complete plonker to say the least, just didn't seem to have much of a clue, at least compared to the guy I'd just been working alongside for the previous 6 months!

Neil, I think he is in Afghanistan at the moment, what a bloke lol. spent six months saying "No, say that again Jock"

Believe it or not we had a female RAF catering officer stand in for the ADC while he was on a course, and what a breath of fresh air. Couple of days before starting she came in and said to me n Jock "what do you expect from me?"
I asked the General if we could keep her and even he wanted to retain her services.! Unfortunately we had to take the plonker back on.
