Any RMP here?

Excellent read - far better than the Journal. I like the PM’s invasion - was this for real?

I did a full tour with the RMP and got out in the summer of 2006. The unit was off to Iraq and I didn’t want to go - strange but true. I went to one of the ‘Stans’ on a bit of a punt to train a public order unit and was asked by the oil & gas client to join the in-house security team. I’ve been there 16-months now and have really fallen on my feet. It’s Iraq type money, no guns at all and I am able to use my brain to develop the full range of security services.

I had some dodgy chaps on my course photo; Longmoor was all about the Trg Wing and the Ops Wing. ‘Taff P’ was the OC at Ops and we had loads of box Granadas to sling around. I then went to 6 Pl with Smokey and then off to Khartoum. Back to Longmoor as part of the ‘driving fac’ and worked with some fantastic blokes. Neil - one of the best is the chap you work with now.

This we should say well done to Mal for providing this site/forum - brilliant mate.

Mal,

I joined 2002 to 2007, was 160 and 114 Pro Coy then back to 160 for the last year for my sins.

Been over in the States since getting out as engaged to a yank and trying to hit the US Cp circuit but its just as tough over there plus you have to retrain as UK Cp not recognised or transferable.

Back in the UK now and still plugging but with not much joy< if you guys hear of anything give me a shout, things getting desperate now, manely looking for UK/Europe work.

Feel free to add to friends list guys and Gals.

Rosie,

Any positions with the UN mate?

oggie

For a quick foot in the door to UN and in Europe have a look at the UNICTY, it is not a long term gig but is a good starting point and one of the better UN Security set-up's that a lot of people use as a stepping stone - feel free to p/m if further info is needed

Joined RMP in 86, completed my CP course in 91, posted 6(sp) Pl, from there went on to do tours of HQ NATO, Beirut and Sarajevo before getting out in 2000 and joining the old bill in Wales.

Hi P (Begbie),

long time no speak. I was in 6 Pl with you looking after the ****. Hope all is well in Wales; did you continue your CP stuff in the police or did you opt for a nice village bobby role?

Regrads

Hi guys,
I left RMP last year after 22 years. Served in too many places to mention, including 7 cp tours. Year before last I was offered an 's' type contract but turned it down. I often wonder if I did the right thing!
I am waiting for dates for medical and fitness assesment for SYP force, however, I am not so sure I want to do that now.
Am thinking of going on the circuit, proably got itchy feet syndrome again lol.
AJ

Still serving, but due out in Aug 08 (May with leave etc). You may not think it at the moment, but you definately did the right thing. I have also been offered Extended service (twice) but told them to poke it, as things are going down hill rapidly on all fronts and will only get worse (you would not believe the amount signing off). Settling in South Yorks myself so thanks for the info on SYP not recruiting, it will save me bothering.

Begbie, don’t apologise mate - it should be me doing that. Assumption, the mother of all ….. I think it was the amazing resemblance between P and the photo you use on your postings, lol!

Well hello, John nice to see another oldee from my generation here on the boards, Dave(stumpy) Jones here as well

Begbie...Is that Taff M?
Hi John T, didn't realise you were on this site as well, although with Hippo on here and his 'referrals list' which I haven't yet got to the end of I should have...
Ginge, I think we were in Hohne at the same time, wondered where you'd gone. Do you keep in touch with many from that era?
Good to see the site bringing old and bold back to the fore, hope everyone's well?
Regards
Neil
