Attack Dogs

From a guy who currently owns northern breed dogs,Huskies & Malamutes, I can tell you they are too independent and have a mind of their own. They are only loyal to the next friendly person!
In the past, I've owned GSD's and if one looking for a protector, the GSD or Mali's are the breed of choice. Due to my recreational pursuits, I have northern breed dogs in my household.
One must remember northern breed dogs were bred for pulling sleds. My Husky mix would clear 6 foot high privacy fences or take off for town, 8 miles away within hours!
My Malamute cross is 20% Malamute & 80%Wolf, she is a wanderer and yet is a protector to my grandchildren. She considers them part of her pack. And that is my 2 cents! barc-out

Don't mess with old guys.... Age and treachery will always overcome youth and skill!
But BS and brilliance only comes with age and experience!

I was offered a job in Banff running tourist sled rides around Lake Louise area. Said I didn't know anything about sled dogs and the guy told me it was easier than training police dogs as long as I had a big stick! Needless to say I gracefully declined.

yeah that's awful mate, they don't need a stick. I have worked with Huskies and Grendogs in both Norway and the Arctic! they are only to willing to please. They are wonderful animals and as someone has already suggested and as I have learnt, they are not pets, they are wild but awesome animals... I wish now during my Military career I could have secured an attachment to Sirius Troop... CD

Exercise ‘Arctic Monkey’ “Next door to the North Pole”

In the winter of 2014 our ‘Senior Tracker’ deployed to Svalbard in the Arctic circle at 78° North. Based at Longyearbyen on the island of Spitsbergen, he engaged with providers of arctic winter activities who are able to teach the basics of ARM [Advanced Rapid Movement] over mountainous terrain, operating in remote and glaciated areas such as Bolterdalen, Skioldfjellet and Grondalen,

Utilising both Snowmobiles and Dog sleds he gained an insight into and an acute understanding of the necessary techniques required for the safe and effective crossing of variable arctic topography, at speed!

A former member of the ‘Sirius Teams’ designed, coordinated and through instruction from passionate, professional and dedicated dog handler employees, delivered one aspect of his training.

These Ex-Danish Special Forces commonly known as Slædepatruljen Sirius (Sirius Sledge Patrol) or informally Siriuspatruljen (Sirius Patrol), are a unique elite Danish navy unit that conducts long-range reconnaissance patrolling, and enforces Danish sovereignty in the Arctic wilderness of Northern and Eastern Greenland, an area that includes the largest national park in the world. Patrolling is usually done in pairs, sometimes for four months and often without additional human contact.

I've met a couple of these lunatics. Don't they all have something mad like a 1200km square patch to patrol? Hard core survival guys.

Yes mate they are pretty awesome guys... their role is incredible, I have researched a lot about them since I came back from the Arctic but I had a very interesting conversation with the guy who ran my training..! He told me that he met some of his Canadian counterparts out in the bondhu somewhere, the Canadians use Snowmobiles of course because they invented them... The Canadian said to him "I can't understand you guys, why don't you use Snowmobiles like us guys?" and the reply was "You can't eat snowmobiles"...

Mate I pissed myself when he told me... They even learn to 'Sew'... yes 'Sew' so they are a group after my own heart because as you may be aware we used to produce 82 different products... They 'Carry' and are authorised to engage in low level interventions where force is required... They have access to the most advanced Satcoms in the wolrd which is continually updated and the rest you can read at their website mate.

I would have loved to have completed a tour with them, what a cross posting privilege...

The Malinois is now becoming the first choice for doing Security work, and used by most Armed Forces around the world, I run my own private K9 security business in the UK using Rottweilers, GSD,s & Malinois,s. I own and also breed and sell Malinois,s for doing security work too licenced SIA holders in the UK and the reason is plain and simple they are "Simply the Best" They carry out all aspects of security work, Defence, Attack, Tracking, Narcotics & Explosives detection dogs. My Dogs are from European working bloodlines with High Prey drives, and a tenacity to match, Faster than any GSD, Braver than any Rottweiller, & Smarter than any Doberman. So if you want the complete Security Dog then look no further than the Belgian Malinois.

But a Malinois is not for the faint hearted or novice inexperienced Dog handler.

Regards ALIMALI.

Please don't generalise about breeds. Prey drive isn't everything unless you're looking for a sport dog.

This post, and your others read like a covert advertisement.

Well you were obviously "Not" in the Intelligence corps were you ? And with 3,750 posts since 2009, you must have sore fingers and little else to do than sit in front of your keyboard tapping away all day long. I would rather you did not correspond with me unless you have something constructive to say or can conduct yourself in a civil manner with members.

Regards ALIMALI.

Classic diversionary tactic. Doesn't change the fact that you don't know what you're talking about

Thanks for that mate... sounds as though you like the Malinois :) How would they together as a small pack..? or as a pair? troublesome do you think? for an inexperienced handler!

Mali's can be very social, or dog aggressive. Depends on the breeding and rearing. The Malinois is not the be all, end all of working dogs. Unfortunately their popularity is bringing back yard breeders out of the wood work and the destruction of the true working breed is being watered down by unscrupulous breeders looking to make a buck. The same happened to the GSD by back yard breeders and the show dog crowd. I've worked both breeds (GSD and Mali) and can honestly say that I prefer neither one over the other. I want a hard working, balanced dog, period. Love Rotts as pets but that's it. Same for the Doberman.

ALIMALI....SCT has more dog breeding and training knowledge than you think. Large numbers of Posts on a web board means that if you do it right the first time there's no need to waste time doing it over again. He has two very nice, extremely well bred Mals at home that anyone would love to own, myself included!
