Has anyone got any info on Cotsworld Group & the Surveillance Operative vacancies they are advertising at the moment, anyone worked for them now what the job intails etc, I have an interview with them shortly & was wondering what they were like to work for etc etc, any information would be great..thanks

I've applied for the same postion Legend as well, and like yourself would like some more info too. Do you have any experience in this type of work or have any qualifications? I am a special Constable for Sussex Police and don't have any 'offical' surveillance qualifications or training.

Cheers Bracey

Same here, I've applied for a position with this company as well.

From what I've read in past threads it seems like a good company as described by two forum members who claim to work for them. Will have to wait and see and hope for an interview now.

I'm in Seaford, just a couple of minutes from Brighton.

Good luck with the interview, let us know how it went!

I have been working for the Cotswold Group for the last 5 Years. The are based in Gloucester and have operatives all over the UK. They specialize in covert surveillence for the major insurance companies in the area of Injury fraud. The hrs are long and as anyone in surveillance will tell you it can get very boring at times. They run there own traing course out of there head office. Once passed you are on a 3 month probation period as the job wont suit everyone. They will issue you with a van, phone and camera and you will work with various members from your area. The pay is not to bad. Always plent of O.T and the weekends.

I hope this helps you guys. If you need any more info let me know.....Good Luck!!

Thanks Trilux, On the advertisment for the postion and the details sent ,there isn't mention of salary or any monies! i've seen on a previous advert for this postion and it was for £20,000-21,000 K. Does that sound about right?

I have an interview at Watford on Friday as I'm based by heathrow no previous experience but wanted a change from being in an office all the time, i'll let you guys no how it goes...good luck to the other guys going for interviews also....

Hi Bracey, Pay usualy depend on experience. 1st timers with no experience are looking at about £15-16K. This however is not set in stone they usually take into account what you made previous.. I'm a team leader and currently sitting on 19k per year however with O.T aroung £24k. Although the are not a bad company I think they should pay better.

No disrespect, i think i'm going to have to cancel the interview. i would only be able to be on a minimum of £20,000 cause of morgage ect.. i would already be taking a £4000 pay cut. As much as i want out of plastering, i'd be mad. Maybe i'll take course and go that route, as to be honest working ad-hoc wouldn't bother me until i made some good connections and proved myself in the field.

Thanks for all the info guys

Bracey

Went for the interview in Watford & all I can say is if I am offered this position I will not be taking them up on it, 16k for 8 hours work each day, you will have to work 2 weekends out 4, they expect an hour travelling time each way to job/home again that’s not paid for so that makes it 10 hours a day, you will be expected to stay on the job & work over time until the team leader states otherwise, you will be charged for private use of the van & the best bit is while in the back of the van doing the surveillance you can't get out & if you need to go to the toilet you will have to it in the back of the van....which is quite disgusting !! So all in all if you’re desperate enough to work for this company then good luck...but for those reasons I'm out !!!!!!

Hi mate, I don't know what you was expecting but I'm sure the fact that u have to use bottles etc for the purpose of relieving your self would of been obvious, unfortunately there are no vans at present made with toilets integrated into them :) very good company to work for and if you put the time in money can be made

Vans with bogs !?.....errrr,,,yeah there were / are !

Had one in for a refit years ago, and the state of the chemical bog after a life of MRE's was not something I'd like to remember !

Guess they've upped the job spec now to include the 'bladder of a camel' tho'. Haven't seen one on a vehicle spec in ages.

Sorry couldn't resist .....

Its a good position who wants to start in srv as a new comer as all other srv coys requires commercial experience and won't invest in you. I appreciate financial restrains can effect on accepting the role.

As stated in the last post you may need to relieve yourself in the van to keep the continuity of the assignment, that's normal practice.

Bracey - You might need to check with your Special inspector as srv is conflict of interest with your special role.

DH...

Seems to me breaking into surveillance is like breaking into CP.

You start at the bottom (i.e pissing in a bottle in the back of a van) and work your way up. If I was looking to break into surveillance from scratch I'd use this as a stepping stone and hope to progress.

You fulltime then? I would've thought surveillance work would be adhoc. Is there really that much work around?
