CPW feedback and forum upgrade

Covert Munkey

Administrator
Good afternoon all,

If I could ask you to place your call of duty pads down and place your airsoft guns on the ground for a moment.

:-)

As part of our forum software upgrade we welcome site feedback on areas you like, don't like and areas we can include.

We are also looking for some high res good security related images in order to add some depth. If you have any images you would like to donate to CPW then please email admin@closeprotectionworld.com

Thank you

CM

I have an idea, and this is only through observation in my time here. I may not have been here as long as some but certainly longer than a few others.

My time on here it feels like the value of the site comes in phases, and I have noticed that the more proactive the known owners are on this site the value the threads up. Like a good laugh as much as the next person and that is often why I come on here but I enjoy good value threads as well. It seems like folks only care about value when the known owners are actively making a an effort to get information or just taking place in conversation.

It would be idiotic to ask for a greater presence but what about a rule change that adds value.

CPW has free membership, the donation button works, maybe but the times I have tried it did not work. So what about fines. It is easy enough to ban a user who steps out of line and delete those who need to be deleted. I know I have been banned a couple times my self, it does not change my views or character but it certainly works as a damn good reminder. However not all people are the same and too often folks get banned and come back just to start in where they left off.

So why not have fines, when a person is banned before they come back they must pay say a quid a day for every day that ban time frame is set for. Naturally they are still banned for that time frame but have to pay on top of that. When they go to login a redirect comes up to a working donation page. This alone will not solve the value of threads and post but if the person had a Probation Ribbon added above or below their Rep Points then users who are just trying to kissass to MODS and ADMIN will be faster to report BS. I say by the Rep Points because so many people place great value in that and take more consideration into what is said by a user with tons of points compared to a user is the low hundreds but only speaks with value. The Probation Ribbon could be for something like 6 times the amount of days they where banned, also it might cut down on how proactive MODs are.

Just food for thought, the site is a great idea, very helpful and often funny. My thoughts are what would this site sell for right now at auction and what would it sell for in five years at auction if such a plan was used to increase the value all around.

Sorry, I have always thought with my wallet and others, you may not get rich fast on a single idea but when you have 100 ideas working in concert it brings you up some.

Just wanted to bump this, their are plenty of bright minds on here.

Also, why not have a Close Protection World Internet Radio station. You can do many things with this, from advertising, talk shows, call in advice, really what ever you can think of.

Run it to some sort of CPW phone app, ap, apt (what ever the hell it is called for those people using smart phones), they get to hear it world wide, participate world wide and then that can spread more by word of mouth to potential new users who work on a team that never heard of CPW.

Just another thought, the bit about an app, ap or apt is just hearsay thought because I do not know anything those or smart phones other than they are delicate to touch and everyone and their mother using them seems to be adicted to them from professional, social and personal life. That covers CPW right there.

Yayyyy...baggsie me as internet dj !

Does a collection of 'criminal records' count against me ?

On a serious note, a Youtube channel has possibilities ?

V :)

...and I've got this really cool pink jacket....

I didn't mean that youtube channel !

...although putting a link on Redtube might be an idea, adds a whole new perspective to 'close' protection ?

Hi all,

I think some of the forums need to be removed or put under another title called 'other forums'. These should include Key Holding and CCTV.

New members' introductions should be vetted and if people do not press 'likes' they should be asked to complete the application with more detail. I would also like to see that the newbies can send PM/receive PMs, upon their details being 'approved'.

A sub-forum should be created within the World Irish Pubs for 'swing the lantern' type topics.

Companies putting up jobs should be required to complete a template that covers the following:-

1. Who they are
2. The company
3. Their position within the company
4. Company website
5. Their 'wish list' of what they require
6. Detailed description of the job
7. Close date

This job should then be removed upon the close date.

Bye for now,

JHD

Having had my xbox and Call of Duty confiscated by the long haired general.........

All joking aside, I would like to see an area set up as a resource center, were members can upload and download manuals, eBooks, articles, intelligence reports etc that are relevant to the industry. I have shared information in the past with members and continue to do so and have benefited from the knowledge gained. I appreciate that there are issues with who accesses this information as in the walts, loons etc, may be some form of enhanced access could be made for the bona fide users.

Thoughts?

Walts do this anyway. They trawl the internet looking for exactly this kind of material, which is readily available to anyone who puts in the effort to find it, to build their back story for their walting adventures. There isn't much that can't found on the interweb.

I would have thought that the issue here is more to do with copyright and the unauthorized distribution of proprietary IPR.

Hi all,

I would like to see a standalone PSD forum, which enables the guys in the sandpit (or wishing to join the Hostile Environment sector) the platform to write about sector-related subjects. I see little resemblance between the UK sector and the Hostile Environment sector, and I feel it is time to treat these as virtually two different industries.

Bye for now,

I would also like to see the grown button back on my profile. I am sure others too would like to see this back on my profile, just take a poll if folks would like to grown Ivan, I would vote yes and I could even PM a few to vote yes.

I`m not a big fan of a groan button Ivan. If someone disagrees with what I`m saying/my opinions I would rather them explain why instead of just `groaning`, I may learn something and change my viewpoint then :)

Fat chance.

Notes to self:

1) Stop making asinine comments.
2) Stop hijacking threads and rambling.
3) Be 'NICE'. Must learn to not to be a sarcastic SoB.
4) Quit assuming some people are idiots, until at least 2 others take the p!ss first.

I'm sure you lot will add a few (lot) more.

The area would have to be managed and as already stated bona fide users only.

As a consultant I share a large amount of information with other consultants within the industry, it broadens knowledge and keeps us up to date with trends, technology, processes etc.

I am aware that there is already a personal admin area and that is what it is for, personal admin, apologies if I am sounding a little pedantic.

Resources are plentiful via the WWW and there is some excellent open source material available, yes copy right infringement is an issue, if some one uploads an article, claims its their own work then I am sure that members will soon sort the issue, as has been done in the past.

At the end of the day the question was asked about forum improvements and feedback, I some times get the impression that some folk get stuck in their ways and are very quick in putting the barriers up or put the negatives across to quickly thus making others think that its a non starter.

So no apologies if I offend.
