Forms of I.D

Hey Guys,

I dont have much time on the net to trawl through pages and pages of information so i thought best just to ask you DS's a question on I.D.

Ime 22, my sisters B/F is also 22 however unlike me i have passport, Driving licence, Construction industry safety cards and operative cards to prove who i am when asked. He does not have any form what so ever of photographic I.D. He does have his birth certificate and adoption certificate.

Now with it being the christmas period i will be going out to manchester a few times and it would be nice to bring him along. If you were on the door at say Brannigans and we both entered and you stopped us for I.D and i show my DL and he was to show you his Birth and Adoption certs would we be let in or is it a shut case, no photo I.D no entry? Also is there anything you can suggest he could aquire within such short notice that would get him through the DS.

This is providing we got asked, however we would look like the stereo typical " drug dealers" if you like because we are both not small lads and have skin heads, not the best look to try and get in but were not trouble causers just wanting to go on night out.

Any thoughts would be greatly appreciated,

Jason

Photo ID which shows the DOB; usually a government issue too, such as the typical DL, Passport or MOD90. Even if its an 18+ and you rock up with 'your' creditcard, no pic & no DOB does not matter even if you cannot get a credit card until 18.

If you look like a stereotype, why not sort yourselves out? No disrespect like, most people look like a stereotype of somesort, even if its Mr. Average, but who wants to cut about the place knowing they look like a bad stereotype, especially when you are clever enough to realise it's going to cause a problem for you.

Okay i take your point, i dont think changing the way i look is an option as i have no hair, and i cannot stand wearing the kind of clothes stundents wear. I like to wear my jeans some nice black shoes, a snug fitting t-shirt not a shirt and my all black north face jacket, admittedly i could look alot less menacing if you like however aslong as ime not causing trouble and comply with the DS i shouldnt have to change the way i look.

I think i might just bring him along and see if he gets stopped, if so we shall have to try another club until someone lets us both in. Whats the script with who you would be more likly to stop and check? I mean if it was just me and him would we be more lily to be checked than if it was him and my sister? or say a group of 5 or more? I would have thought maybe just him and my sister would look allot less likly to be out causing trouble than if it were 5 of us.

Ime not asking for ways to " cheat" you fellas i would just like to understand more on how you operate. I will find out eventually when i become a DS but for now information is key.

Local licensing, Trading Standards and the police are more likely to crack down at this time of year so pubs and clubs are likely to be more careful. As Scab says, you need photo ID, thats what the government expect us to look for and if we accept anything else and its false or someone elses then its us who get the fine and not the git that just tried to get in.
Most DS won't accept a PASS card because they are so damn easy to get without proof of who you are that they are worthless. Also some DS won't accept MOD90 (military ID for those that don't know) because their training courses tell them that only Passport and DL are acceptable and they don't know what it looks like. Personally I will always accept one and its about time DS were told by the government that this is acceptable.

As for who is likely to get stopped. Well the government first came up with "Challenge 21" which meant that if you thought someone looked under 21 you asked for ID which left a good safety margin and fewer 20 year olds getting upset that you thought they looked 17 :) . Now the government want us to "Challenge 25" so we're supposed to check anyone that looks under 25, which I think is taking it too far.
Once you have challenged someone it shows that you don't think they're old enough so then you have to insist on ID, you're on dodgy grounds if you accept something like a credit card, works ID etc.

One final note - if you're going to pubs in a black North Face jacket you're likely to get it nicked. Its a favourite with chavs!

I work on deansgate locks the fact is mate if u don't look 21 you need to prove your over 18! Given it's the Xmas period and the cops are out in force you will find it's a simple case of no Id no entry. The police/licensing advise door staff to only take drivers licence, passport id cards or prove it cards which have the pass hologram on. I don't understand why your mate hasn't gone and got one of those. I think you will have a very disappointing night.....

Oh and part of the reason he hasnt got any form of id is that hes only been out of prison 2 years and only just now managed to get employed. Yes hes bin inside but hes not a nob head or a criminal anymore, we all make mistakes.

Ha ha Hes to shy to ask an older women to walk in with him, infact so would i ha ha. The wig n tash might be a winner what do you reckon to a 118 replica?

No on a serious note he will just have to sit at home and learn to get I.D and be prepared.

maybe the idea is to try and look older, grow stubble, or a beard of sorts, i always get ID'd when I'm clean shaven, but when I have stubble or short growth, its ok.

unless he really does look young (or is a bit of a lady in the facial fungus area), that would probably be his best bet, as well as getting a proper photo ID sorted ASAP
