im currently in the last 2 months of service in the marines,i've done the ronin concepts HECPO course,im looking to work in iraq or afghan.

i have been sending cvs out,but not hearing much back,whats the time scale for getting work?

are companies like armor group,aegis and crg always looking for blokes,or is it just when a new contract is needing filled?



As im leaving the Corp im starting to get in a flap about getting work in my new chosen career!!

any advice greatly appreciated!

dave, i shouldn't be telling you anything on the basis of that wee green hat you wear...!!! lol...! mate, having seen the way the whole recruitment process goes from the start, the first thing i'd say is - don't panic (although this might be difficult for a marine)! with two months left and just leaving the marines there shouldn't be any worries for you. in fact, you stand more chance on just leaving the army these days as most of the bigger companies are looking for lads who have just served their time - i was out 8 years and it was a fkr getting back in (even though my regiment is better than yours)..!

firstly, go to your resettlement officer and get the old CV sorted - this is your calling card mate and as you're in direct competition with thousands of other applicants each WEEK, it is imperative that yours has all the right words, layout and stands out from the rest. i have seen some top ones from the resettlement peoples.

secondly - bombard all the companies with your CV and follow it up with a call - make sure your admin is sorted and you know who you sent to - a name is better than 'Sir/Madam'...!!

thirdly - make sure that you can attend the interviews as some of the companies can call you to attend 'tomorrow'. (i don't know if your two months includes leave).

im sure you regiment was wonderful...lol ,just flapping my tits of,like every bloke who's leaving without knowing whats going on!! lol

i did the cv course as part of resettlement so think my cv is squared,

got a months terminal leave,i just need to finish my discharge routine and go on CO's orderly,then im ofski.

thanks for the advice

i'll be making more harassing phone calls to companies.

Get in touch with CRG, as youve done their HEPCO course, this should stand you in good stead, as they do offer work to their ex students.

I left the mob 12 years ago mate, wish id done this back then.

If you done the course with Ronin Concepts, give Tania a call and ask her if she knows about any work. I do know that Garda World are recruiting at present and they have a contact there.

Your not the only one i did my course with Ronin Concepts back in April i have a month left in the army and i aint heard anything of anyone i have a house and everything to pay for so im fapping like mad

Mate you wont have a problem, just keep pounding on the doors and someone will answer.....Theres plenty of work but its all about timing. This is a good site so keep checking and make sure you get in there first!!:D
