joining 5 Para, kit suggestions please

Will be heading out to join 5 Para soon, so just wondered what advice you old sweats could offer to a crow on what to take. Still got alot of stuff left from when i was in 2 as it wasn't that long ago, as in gps, multitool, torches. So just after advice on anything I may have overlooked.


p.s if any one is struggling to find work pm me and i'll give you the details of who I have found work with.

Laptop and a SIM free mobile, anything else you can pick up in country. I take it you have a pre deployment kit list and a heads up on weapons systems? Could be worthwhile picking up a specific holster if you know what you will be using.

cheers for the responses. Fear i was getting a bit excited (crow!!) when i posted this and it was one of those jobs where it never materialises. I have since been offered gen contracts which do come with a kit list. However to throw one out there I can get hold of some covert body armour which is stab and ballistic to 7.62 at a reasonable price. Is this worth getting (£100 from a mate) or stick with what thy give you and spend it on the piss.

At that price take it mate, you can always plank your bum on it while driving..........
