Maritime Risk Map 2014.

A good update by CRG as a matter of interest Dryad don't do intel on the west coast of Africa...so some companies that use their services in the Indian Ocean are fluffed when one of their vessels ends up in the west coast.

A friend of mine was approached by a large organisation requesting information on the Horn of Africa. Asked why they came to him and not one of the major ‘intelligence’ providing companies? They replied that from previous experience the information they had paid for was basically ‘cut and paste’ from Wiki or newspaper reports. What they wanted was information from someone who had been on the ground and had contacts with the right people.

Have come across a situation where an ‘adviser’ attached to a major oil company and so on the internal security mailing list, reported back the information to his company.

On a visit from the London office a senior member of the oil company’s security department produced the ‘Security Report’ provided by the company that the attached ‘adviser’ worked for.
The person he showed the ‘Security Report’ to then produced the security report produced by his own local security department!!

The man from London was not a happy bunny when he realised that ‘they’ were paying loads of money to the ‘advisers’ company for what was in fact their own information. Not even re-written just 'cut and paste' from the original in-house report.

No doubt the same information being sold on to other organisations with an interest in the same area.

Information is power and as such is a marketable commodity.

Well that's new from last week because one of the shipping companies that use Dryad for the Indian Ocean, have asked a company I work for to do a risk assessment for them as Dryad don't do risk assessments. And like it has already been mentioned the assessment was just copied and pasted from one area onto paper....

Paddyos if you would like to drop Dryad an email and ask what services they provide that will answer your questions. I can assure you 100% that Dryad provide a complete service for West Africa and have done for over five years. Shipping companies regularly ask more than one provider for services just like anyone else would ask for a quote

Hey southernjack, be careful with your statements as some of us have also been here for over 5 years and some of us were the first ever client of Dryad and know very well about the art of intelligence cut and pasting - some of us paid for it for a short while till we caught on to the SOP's that were being used...

Then some of us stopped paying for intelligence after Dryad provided paid for intelligence that then subsequently ended up with unarmed teams being put at considerable risk and then a ship being hijacked..... "Biscaglia" !!

I have all the emails and comms from 2008 and January 2009 - it makes very interesting reading....... Remember Dryad only appeared on the media scene after and as a direct result of the Sirius Star - and that's because myself and James Howard Higgins were booked on a flight to Korea that day to see ship owners and the media called us first for anything ship security related. At that point prior to termination of the relationship due the value and usefulness of the intelligence / versus the cost Graeme was suggested as a good spokesperson.......... If only I knew then what I know now!

Ho Hum.......

Hi Nick,

Thanks for your reply, it sounds like you have a personal issue with Dryad maybe you should take that to them directly and not on a public forum.

They were kicked into touch in the first year of trading by mast!! I'm surprised that coy's are still even considering there services.

DRYAD = complete joke, they where that bad at one point I had my wife send me more relevant, up to date info.
