normal procedures?

A CVIT van pulled up outside a supermarket, bloke in the back enters supermarket with cash box. Some time later I see another bloke hanging around outside with what looks like a security uniform. As I get closer I realise that he is wearing body armour but no helmet and that he is having a cigarette. A quick look in the cab confirms that the bloke wandering around is the driver.

Is it safe to say that this is not accepted procedures?

well id say that who ever there boss is needs to get his arse out of his chair an make sure he does checks on certain locations, granted that the CVIT teams do alot of driving around etc but a driver having a fag while the officer goes for the cash, no surprise that CVIT wagons/guys are hit really as I'm sure we all know they maywell be being watched an obviously incidents like that seen as extremely soft targets.

Are you sure it wasn't a surveillance guy. The reason why I say that is because not having the same uni form but having body armour and no helmet is what the guys who do this are normally dressed. Did you see the same guy in the driver seat later? Normally the second guy stays in the back to operate the door and sort further boxes for the drop until the drop guy is finished.

Standing having a fag isn't SOP but does happen!

A very good question, simple answer is the company didn't provide equipment to their operatives apart from body armour and as you pointed out a bit stupid as the most common assault is being hit on the head!

The guys in the CVIT vans had helmets but no body armour, make of this what you will!!!

Curious question why do they have body armour and not helmet, don't people wack/shoot in the head?

As it happens, around here virtually every murder in the past few years was a head shot, but then that was due to one lone nutter.

I am somewhat tempted to watch the whole process and suss out who is doing what and if they are breaching procedures. I have some covert cameras that need to get out more. However I do have better things to do with my time right now.
