Kettlebells.

Been training with one for a few months now, awesome bit of kit.

I now reckon a kettlebell, a sandbag and a pull up bar is all you need.

Go caveman.

The kettlebell is one of the most underestimated bits of kit but it is the
motivation that is the hardest peice of kit too find for me when training "out of the gym".As a fabricator by trade i always made all my own kit for work outs at work, but never really got into it,probably because i knew my gym was'nt to far away.
I like a bit of pi#s taking and banter when i work out and not many people who lift steel at work all day, want to do it at their break times.
So off i trot every morning at 6.30 before work and put myself through hell.
Pain pain more pain then work ! Oh joy (love it really)

NASH..

NASH..

I was struggling to find the motivation in the gym, in the end I had a break for a while and then completely changed what I was doing.

Now I just alternate between kettlebell routines and bodyweight exercises, they take half as long and still work my whole body.

I can still count on piss taking from the missus!

.. looks like I'm the odd one out, as I spent the summer working on ketties and found them no different from my old work out system.

Whats the link buddy, as it doesnt work.

My apologies Wingnut, it was a joke mate. I have a picture on some groups on Facebook of my deployment training kit. somebody mentioned to me that I could train in a square metre...which is quite correct.

REMOTE AREA, RESTRICTED ACCESS... TRAINING KIT

This is what I carry when on deployment...The sewn theraband is for Leg abduction/adduction. The speed rope is for CVR. The single theraband is used for an array of upper body and arm exercises including Bicep curls. The Door Stay is placed on top of a closed door (prior to closing) and used for an array of pull down arm exercises. The Pressure Grip is used for lower arm and grip exercises...and the package weighs less that 2kg's and produces reasonable resistance training...

Cheers buddy, not quite the Kevin Costner gym but if it works.

Well... you certainly don't bulk with this type of kit but what it does do is quite well is maintain 'Joint Stability'... guys who deploy for just 9 weeks know what happens to their levels of fitness even in that short space of time. I've worked some pretty obscure projects where going down the Gym is not an option. So this helped and also helps the mind.

You know the saying..?

A fit mind starts with a fit body...

And; Press ups are not a punishment, they are an educational tool !

posted it a few times on here... have a look at CrossFit/Gym Jones/Military Athlete.com... lots of great kettlebell exercises and matrix out there... love sandbags... all good gear

who doesnt love a turkish get up eh?

This is great. I have been looking at getting a Kettlebell recently, as my 4 weeks back home without a gym has led me to start doing more body weight exercises, and damn there good! Of course for bulking you can't beat the gym, but I've noticed a major improvement with my variety of press ups and the like.

Where would you reccomend getting a kettlebell from, and do you think I should just go for a 20Kg?

Intense Fitness - Highest quality Kettlebells made in the UK

Give Stan Pike a shout mate - good quality kettlebells that you can pass onto the grandkids!

In terms of weight it depends on what you are trying to achieve - I use a 16kg and it is a good size for me - conditioning as opposed to size.

Some of the bigger chaps claim that 32's are the way ahead - I can't lift the bloody things up let alone swing them (well almost!).

Exelent, cheers guys!

Gringoe - I think I will pass on the 32Kg at the moment! I would just embarasse myself, and no doubt cause injury! 20-26Kg would probably suit me best I think.

Sutty - Thanks mate, good simple workout. I've seen guys do this, along with other stuff of course, for some conditioning before some of the Commando courses. All videos of course, I asume they work.

Just started JKD and we use kettle bells, going to get myself some cant be doing with the gym much happier working out from the shed and pounding the streets.

Im a big fan of kettle bell training...they are very pricey though which always makes me a little sceptical, what marketing drive is behind the latest "must have" training gadget or gizmo...
