take a look at morrigan solutions as well mate its hard to say what course to do, correct me if im wrong CP guys and gals but companies are asking for the SIA qualification so that might a course to attend, probably the HECPO maybe worth doing just for the drills side of things mate....i'm sure someone with more experience and knowledge will be able to help you out pal...goodluck....(spent a few years myself in motars as well lol) (funny thing is when i first joined i thought it was the little dinky mortar lol imagine the shock when i first laid eyes on the 81mm mortar lol those were the days haha)

Been looking into this as well, SIA means you have the tick in the box, doesn't mean that you are any good. Think it is more to do with who you did the course with can make a difference when actually looking for a assignment especially if looking abroad where SIA doesn't apply. Spoke to someone who I know in the industry at the moment he suggested a few to look at one was PBA.

Now I will not advice in any training providers not because I run courses myself (I dont run SIA courses) so when people is asking for that I cant compete anyway
But I can let you know that even though Sweden is no member of the coalition forces in Iraq I still managed to get work there as police trainer.
Even though very few Swedes ( only meet one Swede) that actually been working in HE whent thrue our training and took a job I said no to.
Ive also secured convoy work in Kandahar and qrf/mobile work in Kabul without have trained with any of the above companies..
So the 3 times I whent out I was picked out by references and training and of course previous things I ve done..

Im not saying you shouldnt train at all infact DO TRAIN, but 10 years ago the industry looked much about who you trained with, but still many guys lied there way around and got jobs from people that should be having the jobs in the first place, today they just whant the SIA license on a card thats it..
And again even though I didnt had a SIA license I still got jobs with British and Australian companies, not to mangen the US companies that dont give a shit about SIA, and several US companies do give jobs UK nationals..

I can only say as a British guy once said to me..I have fighted hard to get out here he said to me but I can imagene a Swede with non english native language and foreign diplomas have to fight even harder and YES that is thrue..

If your looking for CP work then a cp course is your choice if youre looking for convoy work I guess I try with what you already have (a very good background)
If you wich to work with a British company then SIA is your choice again

Best of luck
Im just saying training will help you, but you can already put a nice CV together and start try..

Cheers to the advice Hawk mate I have just started my research, trying to find out what i need to do and the best way to go about it, so i'm trying to gain as much information as possible before i part with my money for a CP course

Try speaking to the 'main' companies to see who they prefer their future employees to be trained by. Remember opinions are like arseholes..........Good luck in your search.

I did my SIA with ANUBIS, it can be done at the resettlement centre at Aldershot at a cost of £267 from your IRTC grant, both instructors were from differing back grounds, 1 with 10 years in the Door Supervisory experiance and the Other a former Herriford guy 22 years with CP and Security Supervisor experiance in the civi world from 2003.

Anubis

Welshpig,

Who were the instructors that you are on about, as I would be interested to know as that description does not match to anyone that I know who works for them.

Anubis are the preferred supplier for Resettlement. Phoenix have started up again and are trying to get CTP/ELC provider status. The resettlement centres are a real pain and expect you to do the Anubis one which is ok i suppose unless you are like me and have got my heart set on doing the Phoenix one. With Anubis though you can claim all your food and accom etc back since it is done through the CTP. I am still waiting to see if Phoenix get cleared before booking my course. I think realistically i will have to do it with Anubis which is ok since i belive they run a very good course anyway but without any firearms training. Mind you - as we all know you can teach a monkey to handle firearms - for forces personnel its not rocket science is it.....

Phoenix has recently re started after a two year break from training. I know they have made a few changes in the format and the training staff and I would suggest you contact them direct and have a chat. I know the guy who runs it now and he is a true professional in every sense. You get what you pay for and in my humble opinion they are worth it.

Anubis has a contract to deliver courses to the CTP at Aldershot and CTP get a percentage of the fees, so it is hardly surprising that people are pushed to them. Conflict of interest? CTP is supposed to give impartial advice to service leavers.

The Phoenix course relaunched by G4S has been reduced by 25% from the original format. It is interesting to note that G4S now administer ELCAS, another conflict of interest? Funny how such contracts are suddenly awarded after a fomer Defence Minister is appointed onto the board!

Did my course with Ronin South Africa you get a good medical Experiance and Fire arms Package. Dont let the Price put you off you will get all of it back through ressettlement and ELC

Just be careful if you dont do it through an approved ELC provider like the CTP then the resettlement centres are unwilling to help you and they say you cant claim back your food and accomodation etc. Mine are pushing me to do Anubis with CTP Aldershot when i want to do it with Phoenix. Unless you can get a letter from your unit saying they cant release you at a certain time and your preferred course is the only one available. Agree with Flashcar there and that the army resettlement rules are pants. £534 grant is rubbish for 25 years service and im having to use my ELC to supplement the fees. You also have SLC but you cant use them in conjunction with ELC and resettlement grant. Why? Some good points to the army resettlement process but more bad ones than good me thinks.

An absolute pearl of advice, Ignore the rest my friend and call the HR of a few of the major players, See who they consider to be quality course providers. Looking back, I wish i had done this myself.

Welshpig,

What course did you do for that money

Sunshine, would have got back sooner but been funnies week, so have been drinking my body weight The door man Was Steve Bazell the former Hooligan was Ads something the 2 week course was SIA intruduction to the industry it was NOCN approved and if successful you would get Door Supervisor and Conflict Management Certificate.
There was also a week of Risk Analysis & Security Surveying, it wasnt a CP course though.
