21/23 sas

BigAvo,

Sounds to me like you went for selection a few years back (3 or 4) and didn't pass.

Your info is at times out of date and at other times completely wrong. Baz does know what he's talking about. Recruits get to see very little of what the regt does until very late in their training and operations aren't talked about too much, same with eqt.

Other Guys,

If you want to go for selection, then as someone else said contact them directly, contacts can easily be found on the internet on the proper site and not forums like this, where disinformation is rife on topics such as this.

As for feet hardening, do the tabbing and let mother nature do the rest, the only thing you should put on your feet (apart from boots and socks) is white zinc-oxide tape in my opinion although I've never tried second-skin or other products that are similar.

Cheers,

Greenboy (aka Walter?)

any of you lot have contact with 21/ 23 lads. I met up with a few of them in Afghan in 2008 in Greshk. Like to send on my best to them via the W.O known as "Nasty Nick" anyone who can help , it will be appreciated. The name is Dave and an IED at the Greshk bridge should ring a bell.

Nice to hear and many thanks.

No experience of 22 selection or the others, apart from apart from a family member in the 70's, but a lot of experience doing long 'walks' with heavy loads in other fields of endeavour and , aside from the 'rule of ten' that was passed onto me and that I still use to this day, I can vouch for the good, old fashioned application of gouts of well-applied vaseline to the feet and the actual socks. Feels weird for a while, (not un-pleasurable as a matter of personal fact but that maybe just me..), but settles in nicely and saves a lot of grief later which you will have plenty more of in other areas of your life over the following hours/days. Not to say your feet won't give you gype at all , but it'll lower the stakes somewhat. Whatever you try, just trying can be the answer. Good luck to you and your freind....Per Ardua.

consider the fact that the reg;s are massively undermanned and are taking 21 and 23 on every op and you'll prob be able to work it out for yourself mate.

Ive also heard from a few mates that were refused that they were keen to be accepted with minor med complaints that wouldnt have been acceptable before, makes you wonder really!

forgive me for being stupid but am i correct in reading that you can attend selection from civvy street ? when i was in the military i was under the assumption you had to be serving to be on it?

21 & 23 are TA so correct me if I'm wrong but I believe that they comprise civilians (roll eyes)
