anyone whos interested in cqc must check out www.defendo.com .the average street fight lasts 3 min.if your unable to protect yourself how can you be expected to protect your principle. i have had my fair share of street fights, but some of these techniques get the job done without making you look the bad guy, just in case theres a camara waiting to make you and your client look like a fool. also if you need to put your target down hard and fast it accommodates. no skills required, must be fit, course very real. if anybody knows of any defencive driving courses in london let me know please.

Where'd you get that statistic from then?

3 Mins in a fight is an eternity!! I don't know where you got this figure from but 3 mins is a hell of a lot longer than the average street fight.

Get a stop watch, time 3 mins, then imagine fighting out on the street for that long!

The

I've worked on doors where we've had huge Gladiator style battles out in the car park, bottles, stools, plant pots etc flying through the air, fights that have had many people involved, and there's just out and out brawling going on and just when you think it's all done and dusted and every thing is over, it kicks off again and it seems to drag on forever.

Then, when you play it back on the CCTV, to learn what happened and how you can learn from it, you see it lasted a minute or two.

It may FEEL like it lasts 3 mins or longer, (to me personally it always seems a lifetime) but in reality, it doesn't last that long, and that's a fight that has a build up, a kick off and an end with many people involved.

The average street fight, doeas not last nowhere near as long as 3 mins.

The average street fight is not a street fight at all. It's usually someone taking advantage of someone weaker or at a disadvantage and is over in seconds, not minutes.

Street fights, where two opponents square up and go toe to toe are as rare as hens teeth. The reality is some poor sod getting a kicking because he/she was there, in the wrong place at the wrong time, not a 3 min street fight.

I'm not disrespecting this system, all I'm saying is if you're going to use fear as a marketing tool, then at least keep it realistiic.

agreed

Have to agree with Heno, it always seems like an eternity at the time but 3 minutes is excessive mate.
As for driving courses try sending praetorian550 a pm (once you have 5 posts) and he will point you in the right direction.

Silent :p

You can also check out Besopke Driving, I've not done their course but I belive it is of an exceptionally high standard.

3 mins??? Hmm! Not sure about that figure I'm afraid...

Are you sure 3 mins isn't the average length of a 'Hollywood' fight?

1 min in a street fight is ' forever '....3 mins may well result in ' death by adrenaline '.
A useful link though reaper, so don't want to make too much of a minor question mark.

sorry for not replying sooner, the average street fight quote comes from a guy called bill wolfe who teaches cqc all over the world. you may do your own homework on this guy, but i am sure most of your fights as are mine last no longer than a minute or two. my point was, as a close protection operative if i can't last 3 min or more in the avent of a well trained lunatic trying to kick my clients ass im probably not going to get any more work.remember train for the worst but hope for the best, everyone be safe and thanks for your replies.

Heno

The big ones in the car park, bottles the lot, then watching the CCTV in the back office! ****in brilliant, that brings back some memories Heno!

Anyway, I was always told the average street fight was over in 30 SECONDS, hence why you need to get in hard and fast, first if possible. And so come the sayings; train hard fight easy, the more you sweat in training the less you bleed in battle etc etc.

Anyway i dont wish to be dragged into an argument over how long a fight lasts, the government are hardly going to publish statistics so we'll never know for fact! But Heno's reply just made me want to say something!

Average time of a street fight

I guess it goes when you start timing the fight.
You know, - " Your Mama is a big ugly fat f%^& ...", other dude goes - " Oh yeah, your sister sucks donkey d&*$...". This goes on for few minutes, actual windmilling took 3 sec. Bang! Other dude got it on his chin. Lights out, fight over!;)
Come on, you all have seen it happening:D

To even get to an average figure of 30 seconds that would suggest some fights last longer! I would reckon the average fight lasts 10 seconds that said I once wrestled a burglar with a knife for about 3 minutes seemed like 30!!! thank god for the postman with steeltoecapped trainers on his way to work at 0330! ;-?

Nail on the head there mate!!

the thing is with most fights 99 out of a 100 they all start with verbal,,,, you looking at me you u got a problem ect,, so the key is being switched on my moto is i dont want to fight anyone being the size of frodo ha i just want 2 get away or at the least survive ,,,,,,,

I think what you have to remember is that bill wolfe, jim wagner, tony blauer, whoever are trying to sell a concept andtend to come up with statistics which are quite frankly fabricated. I have attended a defendo seminar and the system has a lot to offer but as many of the posters on this topic have stated 3 mins for a streetfight is a ****ing long time. Marathon training crossed with cage fighting(a bear) is probably your best form of preperation for that type of street fight.
How many street fights has bill wolfe been in I wonder?
