Elite Training in Norwich

and how awfully odd that 2 of those people it was their first post..... just saying is all

Let's call a spade a spade. It isn't odd at all. It seems to be "de riguer" that as soon as someone asks a question about a TP, out of the woodwork they come.

There is a company in Norwich that doesn't provide a course manual and expects students to write everything down whilst the Trainer instructs? and then take the exam. Dont recall if this is Elite? but any course that can't be bothered to offer a manual to assist you in reading up for an exam isn't really worth trying. Check its not them before you give your money.

Did they give you a manual to use on the course?

I aks because i was contacted by a company which I think is Elite, and they wanted to use my manual because they don't provide one, they expect students to just make notes!! Not good teaching practice.

As I say not sure if its this company, but check it out if you can.

Hi there

Alot can be taught on C.P courses and much to the argument that C.P courses should be at least a month etc etc, i feel that if a C.P course is to be around two weeks then other than covering the critirea which should all be as much as possible based upon practical exercises, other subjects or practices should be drilled and covered in those two weeks as much as possible.

some examples i feel which if covered and drilled as much as possible are below.

1) SOPs
2) Route plans and recces
3) Counter surveillance (as indepth as possible, more important than many think!) including Rural and Urban
4) Lima points
5) Vehical debus and embus drills
6) Vehical serach technics
7) I.E.D and V.B.I.E.Ds
8) Log book procedures
9) Radio procedures (including using the "click method")
10) CTRs all aspects.
11) Use of I.R. markers
12) Green O.Ps
13) PERSEC/OPSEC
14) Pistol drills

Ive kept it simple but i would imaging some people never of hearing some of theses things mentioned on their C.P course.

Im not trying to write down or include all topics covered on a C.P course but if anyone reads this and have done their C.P course and never hurd of any of the items above listed then they should be worried about the quality of the C.P course they went on?

And if anyone is looking on going onto a C.P course then they should at least ask the training company if any of the above is covered (and most certanly should be) but more importantly at what standard are the subjects covered and how indepth do they go.

I have spoken to many people in the past who have gone on c.p courses and cheap isnt the way to go! as most of them wouldnt know what your talking about if you mentioned the "click menthod", Lima points or Induction Loops?

Any how its a mind field out there and obviously peoples opinions change but i can confidently say that cheap isnt the way forward and if your not going through SOP after SOP through out your course then certanly if your a civi you wont stand a chance in getting a decent job after you completing your course, people struggle even after completing the very best courses out there let alone cheap and nasty.

Some people would argue that even some of the better known more expensive courses, due to the length of the course dont come up to the neccesary standards which the indusrty needs.

Also something i dont beleive in is the inclusion on C.P Courses are live fire phases????????

Really if you know that little about firearms that you need a few days shooting under your belt to then turn round and convince anyone that your ready to go out to a hostile country, THINK AGAIN!!! it takes a very long time to not just get your shooting down to an art from, theres your safety habits to be drilled into you, let alone all relivant pistol drills, drawing from a holstered position etc etc, all of which you cannot possibly complete on any 2 week or 3 week course.

The only serious C.P course which could cover all what was needed to bring standards up in this country would be a 6 week intensive course, if only......... but only then would we be able to turn round and all be very proud of the badge we all get given at the moment by the SIA.

So at the moment if going on a C.P course choose one on its merrits and take from it what you will but dont think that on its own it will make you a Close Protection Operative which will get you employed and have your right at the top jobs....it wont!

All the very best of luck in your future!

Best regards,

Brengunner.

I know some of the people at Elite and worked with one of them, and they are good guys. I don't know what the course is like as I didn't do mine with them so cannot comment and I can only extrapolate from my personal experience of the men themselves.
Do your research because it's a lot of money to spend getting that badge and it should be value for money and relevant to your potential area of future employment. I've heard of courses that waste a day or two on fire arms training and range firing when the course is a non-HE course. All very exciting but time would be better spent on driving modules or tighter vehicle searching/ planning, etc. ( In some cases a module on wardrobe skills might be appropriate! I worked on a job where one of the guys was fresh from his course and the state of his suit and shoes was unbelievable. Haven't heard of him since, oddly enough....)
Good luck anyway but do look into the whole thing carefully.

I had the pleasure of doing some security courses with Elite Academy of Security Training - Norwich, in late 2012. I can only comment from what I have experienced and that from guys/girls who I have spoken with regarding the courses they have done with Elite. Everyone I spoke to had a positive word to say about the courses they offered and standard of tuition.I did the Ronin SA CP Course back in 2010 and subsequently served in the Middle East. Whilst I was at Elite doing my security courses they had a CP course running concurrently and I can truly say that based on what I observed the standard of instruction was very good indeed. There will always be people slate of smaller security companies without doing their homework and I can confirm that this company does give its CP students a comprehensive user manual. Merit should be given where due !!!

I can onlyh state what was asked of me by someone from Eltirte and tell you what they said about not givinga manual. Perhaps they now do, realising there error, if so that can only be a positive for candidates, can't it.

If showing errors by training establishments means thety have alook atn themselves and improve, thenb my initial comments have been rewarded and someone has benefited.

We all need to comment on TP's we think are selling courses short, and if they are worth their salt, they will improve.

Thank you for the update.

Never heard of them, what makes them elite? I suppose the instructors are ex RMP or SF? with how much operational experience? Do the instructors also work the CP circuit still? Did they exceed the SIA requirements? How? How long did the course last? Did they assist you with finding work after? did they recommend any books other courses? What qualifications did you walk away with? Did you do any driving? what sort of client was you taught to protect? How much experience did you have before this?
Sorry just a few questions off the top of my head.

just for you dodge

Always the same a course is a course and except getting you a badge does nothing, work you have to find yourself and experience get it in life and not saying they are no good but they are a company and companies need to make money simples

I can only add that I was contacted by this TP last year and asked if I would deliver a CP course for them. When I asked what program they had and sceanrios etc etc and what their manual was like, I was told that they would like to use my mnual and course program.

Oh and the course was 2 weeks away, so not much prep time.

At that time, I was not impressed by the attitude of the guy I was speaking too on the phone and he seemed offended when I asked about students having a manual to use during the course and replied that they made notes to help with the exam.

Now this may have changed with Elite, and if it has then good on them for taking comments on board.

My view is that students need a manual to read and learn from as well as from a trainer.

We all learn differently and one way of teaching doesn't suit everyone thats why we have VAK (for those who don't know basically that is Visual (seeing powerpoints other visual items like reading a manual), Audible(listening to the trainer and other guests), kinestetic (touchy feely, actually doing something tangible).

Any course should cover these areas, I for one couldn't stand a course where all is done is the trainer blah blah blah on and on-boring, but that may suit others-its a mix.

Hi All,

Yes i have a update on Elite , listen fellas i have been on the circuit for a very long time now , well over 10 years , seen it done it, and most of all seen the wafflers, wannabes and jokers who i have found to put some lives in danger and simply kicked out on the next flight home, most of the comments on here are say so or what you heard from bla bla bla or your looking for competition by putting a good TP down , why dont you get off your arse`s and actually go and have a day with them or simply pick up the phone and have a chat ; its that easy , i am sure they would put a lot of you to shame , yes they do have Manuals , Yes the CP courses are longer than 14 days and i can honestly say i learned more on their CP course than i did with a lot of wannabe muppets all over the world , before you go slating not just elite or any other companys , how about being professional in your own right and get facts right . Elite are operating all over the world , great trainers and what i like about them is that they dont pretend to be something they are not like some companys , they are teachers who deliver great courses ,but i will stick up for them because half of the information on here is utter nonsense and discredits them for the great job they do and the proof is in the pudding with the contracts they have worldwide . Again your the ones who are supposed to be professional surely (NOT) , someone on here hyped up about other companys being top of this and top of that , listen chaps if your the experts then why dont you go down there and preview and report back , i am sure you wont be disappointed, also why dont one simply invite for a direct response from the CEO and or trainers from Elite before you go gobbing off , Rant over :-)
