Fpos instructor

Yes, drop me a pm or contact me via info@thesosgroup.co.uk and I'll go through the options with you, including working as a responder to gain experience with our clinical partner employment opportunities.

Got to ask I thought you had to be ambulance tech or Paramedic with IHCD/Edexcel instructional techinque course under your belt before you could teach the FPOS package as per IHCD/Edexcel rules ?.
As this changed recently ?.

Hi Russ,

That is the case for the IHCD Ambulance Tech course.

With regards to delivering the FPOS, to quote Alan Howson the head shed, 'Trainers must be clinically and trainer competent'.

I'll pm you with the remainder of the details.

All interested parties whom have contacted me so far on here are either First Responders with the LAS, or working towards their IHCD Technician or HPC registration as a pramedic.

pm en route.

Best regards,

M4MED

Ha ha apologies Starlight, didn't mean to keep you out of the loop. PMs have been essentially for 3 reasons; the course isn't offered commercially, delegates are required to be employed by us and are approved by the EV, I am not the man with all the detail, my business partner deals with that and he's not on CPW and there's far too much detail to post on here.

Sorry, just didn't want to get people excited about a product which isn't available off the shelf.

We are however, always looking for suitably experienced and qualifed (medically, clinically and training wise) people to join our team for permanent or ad hoc training roles, which could include approval through our centre / EV to deliver the FPOS family of courses.

Hope this helps mate.

Best regards,

M4MED

Maybe an old one, but I only found it via Google just now :)

Ref my separate thread "what course next" I am thinking about adding FPOS instructor to my bow, any advice on who and where would be appreciated.

There is no "FPOS Instructor" course; an individual has to meet certain criteria; chiefly a minimum of Paramedic (for FPOS-I) or Technician (for FPOS-B) and both with a teaching qualification, a minimum of CTLLS (not PTLLS).

You apply to Edexcel as the awarding body to be recognised as a suitable trainer / assessor. You can then work on registered courses. To run registered courses the company must gain approval from Edexcel; quite an arduous business.

From the Edexcle FPOS Rules & Regs Document:

FPOS – APPROVED TUTOR LIST

Instructional Qualifications
IHCD Tutor Award
IHCD Instructional Methods Course (PASS)
Level 3 Certificate for Teaching in the Life Learning Sector (CTLLS)
Certificate of Education
Basic Instructional Techniques (BITS), Ministry of Defence.
80 hours of certificated training/teaching from a recognised awarding organisation
ENB Nurse Tutor qualification (previously known as the 998)
* Tutors registered for tutor qualifications may teach on FPOS courses as part of their evidence gathering towards achievement
Clinical Qualifications
FPOS BASIC, INTERMEDIATE & ENHANCED
IHCD Ambulance Technician qualification
IHCD Ambulance Paramedic qualification
State Registered Paramedic
Doctor (GMC registered)
Nurse (NMC registered with relevant clinical experience) such as A&E or Trauma Nurse

FPOS BASIC & INTERMEDIATE
IHCD Ambulance Technician qualification
IHCD Ambulance Paramedic qualification
State Registered Paramedic
Doctor (GMS registered)
Nurse (NMC registered with relevant clinical experience)
CMT1 (Ministry of Defence)
St John Ambulance, Tech 3

FPOS BASIC
IHCD Ambulance Technician qualification
IHCD Ambulance Paramedic qualification
State Registered Paramedic
Doctor (GMS registered)
Nurse (NMC registered with relevant clinical experience)
CMT1 (Ministry of Defence)
CMT 2 & 3 (Ministry of Defence)
FPOS Intermediate (to teach FPOS Basic)
5 day Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) course
British Red Cross First Aid with Enhanced Skills
St John Ambulance, Tech 1, 2 or 3

You would need to contact Edexcel if you had anything else but they are strict and the approvals process is quite lengthy; it is not like being signed off as a First Aid instructor from some of the awarding bodies...

Thanks guys, looks like I need to contact them and see if my work as an RYA instructor comes under 80 hours of certificated training/teaching from a recognised awarding organisation.
