Lookin.....Here we go. Threat made against UK

Its their decision makers that need to keep their fingers on the pulse, they need to grow a set of balls and get on with the task in hand and stop pandering to the nanny state that Blair started and Cameron seems to be carrying on.

I suspect he is moving about a fair bit then!
 
The thing is there are always people making threats, I suspect there's always intelligence suggesting imminent attacks. But how much of it actually happens and how many attacks actually happen without prior intelligence. Terrorism is about making your target live in fear. Just because someone is openly saying there will be an attack doesn't mean there will be. It may just be a calculated ploy to make us quiver in our boots, or push the security services to focus their efforts at home rather than helping with the international terrorist effort. On the other hand it may be a signal to his friends in this country to get on with that plan that they previously discussed - but if you were going to do something would it really be wise to announce the fact and get the public more vigilant.

As Starlight alludes to in his last sentence, it should come as no surprise that we would be a target so we need to be vigilant all the time, everywhere and not just when there is a heightened state of alert.

Terrorism is an excuse for governments to reduce freedom, confiscate guns from honest citizens and generalize surveillance.

People who accept to "live in fear" just because some preacher declared future attacks, should assess the risks they take by... say, driving a car ? Taking a plane ? And do their maths.

Vigilance, for people on this forum, should be a way of life anyway...

An interesting theory.

A good discussion point, who actually thinks we live in a post 9/11 society? are we as individuals influenced by our various governments to believe we do?

The enemy is within our gates and we let them in, in fact we invited them in.
