William Hague tells bosses to work harder

Communities Secretary Eric Pickles said he agreed with Mr Hague's comments

Foreign Secretary William Hague has called on bosses to stop "complaining" about the economy and work harder.

Speaking to the Sunday Telegraph, Mr Hague said: "There's only one growth strategy: work hard."

He said the UK needed to "reorientate" itself, when it came to exports, towards expanding economies such as India, Thailand and Indonesia.

AND... here is my response to Politicians:

"When all of you have ever held a 'Proper' job, When all of you have ever produced anything of material value in your lives, When all of you have ever contributed to the wealth of this country by means of enterprise or entrepreneurship then, you can make comment, criticise, chastise or make any other petty remark... until that time..? Shut the FCUK up..!

How about if MPs salaries were multiplyed by the percentage of the electorate that actually vote for them. ie they get a top salary of about £100k, but only 30% of the electorate vote for them, so they only get £30k. I think we'd start to see them do a lot more to try and improve things. However, most of them have no experience whatsoever in any work other than politics. Maybe they could spend that long summer reccess working front line in a public service in their constituency.

I saw Mr Pickles talking about that and he was trying to salvage someone by saying we should all work harder.

I'm afraid my first thought was that if MP's worked harder, they'd just claim more expenses.

Unfair perhaps.

They only want bosses to work harder, so they make more money so they can tax them more and screw up spending it. The economy is only where it is because they have ****ed up and the banks were greedy. People in glass houses shouldn't throw stones.

The 'real' bosses is a bit of a misnomer really Carl.
There are many Bosses on here, (and multiple bosses in any family home).
The little men who work themselves harder than any employee.
They put the hours in, sweat and toil as much as the minions.
Then there's the bosses, who earn their lavish living standards from the UK and yet pay little of their income to it's provision of the safeties and freedoms that they expect.
The laughable application of expences and tax breaks to the MPs nad Civil Servants at Westminster, just beggars belief.
They seem to call into question anyone who just wants a fair shake, Teachers, hospital staff, anyone who puts in real graft.

They question our commitment to work, if we dare raise the issues of reduction in pensions, the raising of retirement ages, with no chance of a job for many after 50/55. The mismanagement of our banks, country and military.
Yet their pensions, pay, expenses, allowances, just wouldn't be allowed for you and I.
One rule for us, and a much more comfortable rule for them.
All these benefits preserved despite dishonesty, and self engrandisement.

I think also OJ and I say this from much experience of the kinds of people I have met and of course I can agree totally with that which you talk of above... Many SME owners have a good 'social conscience' which I believe is a mark of a true humanitarian... I have supported some on here with 'Kit' sponsorship, visits to Military establishments, help with CV compilation. Unfortunately, the 'Youngens' idea would be a complete and utter non-starter, but hey... we can't win them all.

Yes... there is something profoundly disjointed about this country just now... CD

"We're all in it together" now we must work harder (self employed so I am the boss) might as well finish it off with "let them eat cake"

Thing is if you took half the workers away the country would crumble, take half the politicians away and there is no change but we save money! One big gravey train for the public school boys!

There seems to be very little reward for the people who work hard in this country. Hard working families are the hardest hit, whereas doing very little is ok. We already have one of the longest average working week, a high retirement age, rubbish work/life balance etc etc. Bl@ody politicians!!...

Isn't Mr pickles a rather obese, disgusting individual who looks like he is actually gainfully employed as a pasty taster at 'Ginsters' or the like.

Is it just me or does anyone else get their back up when slobs tell us to 'work harder'

Yes mate... and! Totally agree... Carl

Unfortunately, even as a mod, I'm unable to correct the basic lousy grammar in the heading of this thread.

One should NEVER use the terms 'politician' and 'work' in the same sentence.
