Hi guys,

Im am current serving Legionnaire of 2 years, i was promoted about 8 months ago and have served with 2eme REG in Afghanistan.

Any questions you might have, just ask...

1 last note... to all wanna be Legionnaires who have looked on the internet and seen how fantastic the Legion is... think long and hard before turning up in Paris or Aubagne, its an extremely tough first years service. I have 6 years British service under my belt, 1 of which was spent in Iraq... and comapring the two, the Legion is mentally and phisically hardcore, they break you down and re-build you.

My word of warning... you will be giving up everything you have, you cannot leave France during your first two years service (if you have a good record!), also, all ID, Passport etc will be confiscated.

1 good note... you WILL see combat, that i promise you!!!

Anyway, any questions, just ask.

Adam

do they still give you the red and green tracksuits?:D

just a joke.cheers

hey adam
welcome on here
Just a question

Where actualy the new guys will see combat?
As far as i know the ivory coast is quiet calm now.
Is there something new?

LEGIO PATRIA NOSTRA

Trudge is right, Afghanistan, the legion is sending pretty much every Regiment there at over lapping times, eg. they will have a 2eme REP company at one FOB and a Genie section at another.
With these new roles, all the INF, REP and Genie regiments are going to Afghan... its a good thing, also, the money isnt bad, E 3000 a month after your tax etc!!

Oh, and for Ronald...yes, they still give you the red and green suits!!!

((I saw a post on here a couple of days ago about someone saying your personal possetions are sold if you make it through selection and training... not true! if you pass, the day you leave for your Regiment, they give you back all your property, money, electrical goods (phones etc) Just thought i would say incase that person is thinking of joining.))

Hope all ex Legionnaires are ok, good luck to all future ones... if you make it!! Adam

Hi mate,

you 2eme cie, with LTN dePenfentenyo? If so you may remember me I was a CPL in S3, then went to 4RE for my last year of service. How are things in Afgan, you should be back this or next month if I have it right?

Hello mate,
I was in S3, i moved to S1 for Afghan, i have about 3 weeks to go!!
How is 4RE??

Afghan is ok, hard work, my shoulders are massive now, i carry a 86mm and rocket with me where ever we go!!
plus all our gear are heavy as hell!!!, we carry much more than i thought we would!, well worth the tour though, things suddenly picked up about two months ago when i started getting hot again!

What you doing when your finished in 4RE???

In civvy street now, finished in December. Off to do a close protection course on sunday for three weeks and then see if I can get some work, but will have to be patient for my first job

Adam, what if your regiment goes to Afstan but not your company ???

Where am I supposed to see combat now, with less than 2 years to go ?? OK maybe in the Guyana jungle ;)

BTW say hello to Dave, the anglophone taiwanese, I think he's your aux san de compagnie, right ?

I hold US/Canadian dual citizenship (US born but I live in Canada and carry a Canadian passport). Will being a dual citizen bog down the recruitment process?

-Thanks

Jester, if the written tests are a problem, go to your local adult education centre, they are extremely good at ironing out math and english problems for selection tests !!

Not when they they will change it for you anyway, just bring the 1 passport though

RMCGETTIGAN is right, i hold duel citizenship mate, i had no problems.

For Jester33, again as the man said, an hour a night before you leave will do great, you dont need a gym, the road and a pair of trainers will do!!!
Push on your upperbody strenth though, push ups and pull ups. Im sorry to say this mate but their is no point in setting yourself up to fail, hold of joining for a few weeks or months and get you fitness to a good level, at the same time, get some french dictionarys and learning dvd's into your head. The ''6'' PPPPPP's mate!!!!!!
With regards to the maths tets etc, go to your local library, its free to use the internet in UK librarys, use online maths tests to help you out, same with your french.

Good luck
