The Circuit Magazine From the BBA (British Bodyguard Assosiation)

Security Directors
Hi,

Just thought i would mention I just received a copy of " The Circuit " in the post this morning. Wow was I impressed. I have found it an excellent read with well written articles and excellent content from real subject matter experts. Very good quality printing as well (which might sound geeky but I feel this makes all the difference with the feel of a printed magazine).

Was very impressed with the "so you want to be a penetration tester" article which was interesting and well written with example code and concepts. Nice to see such an open and honest approach within a field which is often misunderstood and kept under the radar.

Also it struck me the advertising was minimal. The magazine is made up of useful articles rather than lots of adverts on every page which is a great testament to what Shaun West from the British bodyguard association has achieved with this magazine.

A number of members of this forum have written in it as well!

Just though I would put my views on this and welcome any discussion on this. This is a feather in the cap of the British bodyguard association. Based on the quality of this magazine I will now be joining!

I thought a link would be acceptable in this instance and hopefully not breaking the advertising rules as I personally am not involved with the British Bodyguard Association in anyway.

Hi OJ,

How is the tracking working out with the young chap ? I hope he is behaving now! I have no idea on discount, Not my place to comment but I don't think there is any such arrangement.

Keeping the mag with me everywhere, excellent read!

Hi All

This is my first post on CP World. I've been a member for a while but have never posted as of yet.

A colleague of mine let me know that there was a post up about the Circuit Magazine and BBA so i thought i would check it out and i must say many thanks to Track Clarity for your kind words and comments about the magazine.

It has taken my team many long and sometimes frustrating months/weeks/hours to put the magazine together and so far i'm very pleased with how the magazine has turned out and feedback like this makes it all worthwhile.

I’d like to say thanks to all of the contributors [some of whom are CPW members] for their articles and for making the magazine possible.

Hi Oddjob unfortunately we don’t offer discounts to anyone for membership at this time.

Best

Shaun

If anyone would like a link to a small sample of the magazine PM me and i will provide you with one.

Nice magazine once again.Well done on the way you've turned things around.
I think this one may be the best one yet.The piece written by Peter Jenkins(iss) is excellent and well worth a read .

Ye the tracking is proving invaluable on occassion,
usually when he fails to tell me he's going out.
At one point I thought a more drastic measure,
involving a suppository and a lot of screaming, was gonna be required.
But we have come to a satisfactory solution.
He does as he's bloody well told.
No, its all good now.

I was alluding to the under used power of CPW, which by now must have a formidable reputation and membership in the security world.
Tomorrow when I work out how, (slow, sorry)
I will subscribe, it sounds pretty good.
Better than my current toilet reading thats for sure.:D

Thanks also to Sutty for your feedback i'm glad you like the magazine and the improvements made so far, we're gonna keep on it and keep improving the magazine and the Association wherever we can.

There seems to be a wealth of experience on offer here within the CPW forum so if anyone would like to see any of their work published within the magazine please feel free to get in touch.

Hi ,

Just wanted to add I am now a member of the British Bodyguard Association ( BBA ). I have not been convinced in the past by the idea of "paid for " groups. However this very positive experience has totally changed my mind and I now understand how positive such an association can be!

It was painless to become a member which is always a good start. The Welcome pack was well presented and impressed me. As with the circuit magazine its obvious that they care about the quality of content as well as the presentation of items within the British Bodyguard Association ( BBA ).

The forums are smaller than this site due to a smaller member base. However I feel that because it requires money to join this association this weeds out a lot of the idiots you find on free sites. There are a lot of well known faces on the forums. Great for networking!

The advice given on the forums is of an excelent quality. And of course there is much more to the BBA that just a forum. The forum is just a part of it. Again I am very impressed (and that's not easy I can assure you !)

I hope my personal take on things helps someone.

Best regards,

Track Clarity

I recently was on a training course with Shaun01 who brought in a few copies of Circuit mag, and it did suprise me to see some topics were covered that we have previously covered on this forum. Honest opinion is its well laid out with some great features and doesn't push advertising at you so as not to detract from the interesting articles.

Shaun01 and the Circuit team keep up the good work.
Stoney Out.

Thank you all for the support and fantastic feedback once again.

I'm currently working hard on another course this week then on an evening its back to work on the magazine, we are currently making progress with the next issue which we have some great articles for already.

To see so many kind words reference the magazine is great.

When we decided to go to print with The Circuit Magazine it was certainly a risk in a number of ways, both cost wise and to actually see whether we would be able to successfully to produce a magazine that would be well received!

Thus far 99 % of the feedback has been brilliant and positive, we've also had a couple of emails that were not so positive pointing out some mistakes that we made (damn typos lol). We have acted on this and we now have a professional proof reader in place for the next issue to ensure........(touch wood) that we don't miss any more little mistakes.

Its been a great learning process for us in putting the magazine together and although frustrating at times its turning into a fantastic little project which we take great pride in and I’m sure it will grow and improve with every issue thanks to the many great contributors we have.

If you have read the magazine and do have any feedback please feel free to send your thoughts and any ideas so we can continue to improve the production.

Kindest Regards

Shaun

Thanks to all who have commented on here - this has been a really useful thread for me, and I am sure a lot of other people.
I have been debating on whether or not to get the magazine and/or join the BBA, but after this thread, I'll be doing just that when I get paid from my latest contract......which as we all know could be any time!
Thanks again for the useful info everyone!
