What are you listening to

Tis ok i have to wash husbands clothes when he gets home after 6 days at work, and he's doing a stint at an animal rendering plant.... trust me an unfavourable breeze at the in-laws just down the street from the plant in London and it's enough to make you gag...... and it already stinks here, the neighbours just put shite on his garden

I'm listening to whatever my client chooses to make me endure.
It seems quite basic, all beat and rythm, I'm still waiting for the bloody tune or melody to start.

I'm a big fan of Sigur Ros, great to chill out to, also Pink Floyd. Dark Side of the Moon while lying on the couch with a nice glass of Red wine is a great way to spend an hour or two.

Heno

Just got in I can still hear it, Tinatus would be a relief, and drown out this crap

BOOM,BOOM,BOOM, Changa, changa, Boom, Booom . Nooooooooooooooo.

your getting old OJ when you start to think the popular music of the time is just a noise and all sounds the same

With all seriousness I like a range of music to suit the many varied roles I find that have to be fulfilled as a CPO these days.
For instance whilst on vehicle escort, we prefer Van Halen at full volume as it helps me concentrate on the task in hand and I do not get distracted by the incessant beeping of horns and verbal abuse thrown at us from less spacially aware road users and pedestrians.
For RST, I prefer the soothing classical music of one of our great English composers Vaughan Williams. I find it helps me contemplate the days troubles in a relaxed, prone manner allowing my 2ic, the time to hone his skills in the gardens hence expanding our perimeter of safety. I find radio silence is the best way to conduct this aspect of his training.
I'll see what else I can find to fit the other roles as CP.

This week i am mainly listening to neil diamond - the bars on my honeymoon had duke boxes 20 years behind the times and i love it..... AND after a massive fight in HMV this very afternoon with my 8 year old and her pocket money she settled on jonas brothers as i refuse to have lady gaga in my house!!!!!!!!!:o So have just put neil diamond and jonas brothers on her ipod for her....... utterly appauled that my local HMV has no charlatans cd's at all.....complained to the manager about their shoddy collection of tat!

It's bad enough that my ipod is synced with the 8 y o's, not sure if its worse for her or me really, she gets to suffer neil diamond and linkin park and a whole myriad of sweary things i get jonas brothers and high school musical haha

Please kill me if i have to listen to Jonas Brothers one more time i may loose the will to live..... although i is infinetly better than the horrendous racket the child has made all afternoon on her clarinet

I am listening to a little voice that tells me to watch out for that man in red pullover that's staring through my window....

How about that ???

I am sure nobody can beat this...

Well i just had to listen to my neighbour whine at me about how My spaniel NOT the other 6 dogs in the block was waking her up at 7am barking everyday! Now were she on nights and had just got to bed i may have been more sympathetic but fact is she is in bed by 12..... lucky her i rarely see my bed before 3 and am up again at 0645, and she needs her sleep...... to be fair she does she has a face like a bag of smashed crabs and for a 20 odd year old she has packing cases under her eyes NOT bags. But considering the fact my dog is half asleep goes out to take a leak then comes in and goes back to bed at 7am think she may need to get her eyes and ears tested.... cos i think she will find it's the annoying bloody westie next door that barks at 7am...... god i feel better after that rant

I have music but just stuff the operators swap back and forth down range though. I just gather it up but do not listen to it.

However I do listen to audio books. They are better than television! I have also found that they can help someone that can only speak the basics of a language they have been trying to learn. I would rather have functional grammar instead of theoretical any day. Just some languages you can not get a good novel in but their is always a dissertation, thesis or public speaking available.

Try some of the talking book Biographies,
there is such a variety of life stories.
Decent grammar and not all dialogue.
I'm sure there are subjects on there with back grounds,
that you have an affinity with.
Or you could down load the educational items from the internet, or the open university.
Your English is very good, you express yourself very clearly, well done.
It shames a lot of us on here, who have scant command of our own language, let alone foriegn tongue.

My latest was The Origin of Species by C. Darwin the unabridged version. English authors publishing anything of scholarly value has always fascinated me. Currently I have just over 6tb in audio with no copies in seven languages but the vast majority is in English or American. I like American authors as well they really know how to embellish facts making them so much more interesting. However if you are a history fan it can sometimes really make you angry with what they are attempting to promote through poor misinterpretations.
