Has anyone resused anything other then people.

For example about 4/5 years ago along with a mate of mine we sucsesfully resused a Bluebottle.

A fly landed in a puddle of bear and it flew away kind of wonky, but then it came back for a bit longer this time landed on the puddle and started drinking again. My friend and I thought it wouuld be funny to help it so we dropped a few drops of bear on it but then it stopped moving.

We panicked and feeling guilty we tried to help it, we moved the fly out of the puddle flipped it onto its back my mate used his finger and started chest compressions and I blew into its face area. I was unable to adequatly seal the nose and mouth but we managed to sucsessfuly resus it after a couple of attempts.

Does anyone have any other stories about strange resus attempts on non humans, dogs, horses or maybe even fish.

Sorry everyone, looking back at this very childish start let me start again.

I have been seeing courses that teach first aid to do on K9's and there are a lot of working animals that do dangerous jobs.

It was a childish start but I was just giving an example and got carried away.

Has anyone had to do first aid on their dog or any other animal mainly interested in anyone having to resus an animal.

Military dog handlers are given First Aid Courses for their K9's.

I know a Paramedic, from Sussex area who resussed a tortoise! It is true, I know the guy well, in fact he won the pride of britain awards for taking on a gunman after being called to his home. Amazing guy, as you can imagine he gets the mickey taken out of him a lot for his weird and wonderful acts of bravery. There was a photo of him in all the papers kissing this tortoise!

Operated

You drunk brits!!!!

Looool.

When working in Greenland, I´ve reset the hip of a puppy in ketamine anaestesia (for the dog).
X-rays were a little different, but the end result was fine

Now as a drug used in the tactical medicine arena, I really do rate Ketamine, but who else is using it?

Fantastic drug without the respiratory issues that opioids give.

After administration and were possible keep in a quite, calm and chilled environment otherwise the patient will be like Renton from Trainspotting.

Before i joined the dark side I was a firefighter for 6 years, during that time I had to resus 2 dogs that had suffered severe smoke inhalation. Pretty much the same as you would for humans really as they have the same breathing mechanism and heart. Also helped with the oxygen we carried on board also.
And yes they made a full recovery!

Ketamine is also good for short, painful procedures, such as dressing changes in burns patients. Kids tolerate the drug better than the adults in terms of the "emergence phenomena".
