Useful Qualifications for CP?

Hi guys,
I'm trying to get into the CP circuit in the UK primarily, with hopes of one day seeing HE jobs.
I have virtually no military experience, and was wondering if any of you guys could suggest any courses and qualifications that would help me make my CV look a bit more promising.
I've considered the RMR, (my original experience was RMC Training, but was dropped for medical reasons), but was just wondering what courses in the UK might help me i.e. Surveillance, Handcuffs, Risk Assessment etc.
I understand you cant learn this job in a classroom, but at my young age, I cant rely on experience alone to get me my first job.
Any ideas?

Become a Medic,
I've worked with quite a few, and sure at first we all think they're demented, perverted, health in the community slot ins,
But we realise they have an ever increasing role to play,
and in truth should be on every team.
Its a worth while, honourable profession, despite the people in it.

Now where's me Tin Hat.:D:p

If this is the course you wish to follow my esteemed colleagues and I will guide you along the golden path..

As far as HE is concerned, without military experience you will find it difficult if not impossible to get in.

Unfortunately you could do every course on the market "i.e. Surveillance, Handcuffs, Risk Assessment etc" and still not get that job you are chasing.

Find a focus in your career and training, plan for it, and stick with it until it proves a success or failure. Don't try to be a jack of all trades rather aim to be proficient just a few skillsets or expert in one.

Never takes shortcuts or the easy way. Excellence takes time, effort, and money..

GOLDEN PATH ?, is that the same as,
GOLDEN SHOWERS, or
PLEASURES IN THE STREAM (PIS)

So if i were to go down the path of a medic, what would i need to do to get there? I assume i'd have to take some form of paramedics training?

If you think its a viable route for you, Blood, study etc,
Pop over to the Medic Forum and there have been a few threads on this subject, try the search bar on CPW.

Take a look at What next after FAAW?, it will give you some idea of a progression from first aid to Medic.

However you would do well to consider RAMC (inc TA) or NHS Paramedic as a primary route. It will be cheaper (and you'll get paid) and the training & experience you will gain will be invaluable.

There alot of good advice on this site, join a medical proffession is like gold. I have a good friend who has works on the oil rig as a medic and have gain alot off experince as well as doing a close protection course. Also look at teaching the skills as a instructor. all the best.
 
languages, thats a good route to follow...... i know medics is good but you will be up against a lot of guys who have YEARS of excellent in the field experience who have forgotten more than you can learn..... look i am just saying
 
Annie, I've been looking for one of those 'bakelite' toggle light switches for ages,
like the one in your Avitar, where did you ever find it.
 
If I may add that the most important tool to have in the CP profession that will make you stand out would be to master the details. The details being the proper manners when dealing with the client (should you ever have contact) the principal and other team members. In the profession most operatives master the big things or those things which may be seen by others. Fair play on that. But, it is those details that will set you ahead of the rest.

But, before getting to this point. You should develop a realistic plan for yourself with long term, short term goals, training etc. Training is not just training. As you can spend a lot of money have training but it may not be applicable to what you like or desire to achieve. Not all training is equal. You need the experience of some of the people on the forum or who you know. They should have no motive financial or otherwise.

Did you consider to join the police? AS you state in your post that you have no military experience. The police is an excellent place to gain valuable experience and make a major contribution to your future. There are alot of ex police from all over the world serving in police missions all over the world.

I applaud you for seeking advise from those with experience on this forum.
