Any RMP here?

Hello all, some real 'hooks, crooks and comic singers' amongst this lot. Served in the Corps between, 1974 and 1996. Various units 177.....twice, CinC Baor CPO, FCO Tours in Leb and Ug. CP Wing ( Before it became CPU) As a civvie, been in Africa, Iraq( got shot...not big not clever) Afg and back to Africa. Great Site and nice to see so many red a**s. Take care all BTW ADJ.....how is Tesco these days....every little helps...especially in your case.

Still trying to run with the youngsters then Kenny, you need to retire gracefully now, you auld git..Tesco same s--t different day mate, but it pays the bar bills, glad to hear you are ok, did try and make contact about 6/7 months ago. Trying to locate all the old crew memebers from GOCNI.....Actually visited "Dickie" he lives about 30 miles from me, he has travelled a lot since he retired, his wife was actually visited by the "boyos" when he was away. Keep in touch mate
 
I wouldn't exactly say run Boss!, more a fast(ish) walk these days. No plans to retire just yet, glad to hear that our former 'Principal' is doing OK. If you are up for a p*ss up...I mean a reunion, send me a PM, as I am back in the UK for a few months.BTW I believe Vic of the lunar persuasion is in Nigeria with FCO, other than that I don't know where anyone else is.Take care and remember, you are only as old as you feel....and if you feel it too much you will go blind(er)!!
 
Im up for that a p.... up of course, dont know where any of the old team is, Big Norman runs his own business in Isle of Wight I believe, no idea where dredger is, who else was it, christ the brain cells are slowly grinding. I tell you what I would like is any photos, as mine were destroyed in a fire many moons ago. ill make enquiries on other forums to see if we can get hold of the guys, it would be nice in my 60th year, jesus was 1980 that long ago lol
 
Just a thought, wouldnt it be great to get the old team back together and Ill ask "Dicjie" to come along, I reckon he will be game for it and no doubt he will recall his birthday in the Cpls mess in Lisburn, when certain member of the GOC NI CP team dropped his trousers at the bar, only a Lt General and he didnt bat an eyelid, now for the life of me cant remeber who that Cpls was, thought my crown was going to be along way off LOL
 
Sounds good to me, I will have a look for photies when I get home in a few weeks.Dropped trousers,?Cpl's Mess,? Lt General,? no, can't say I can recall that one. I will just off now, after I check the belt and braces I now wear.Just in case you know, can't be too careful, dodgy belt buckles and all that.!! Take care mate and I will see what I can do to round up any of the other team members. Meantime, keep the zimmer fired up for a quick(ish) getaway.
 
Vics in Afghanistan with Armor at present. Kenny, did I stand and chat to you for a while in the DFAC in Mosul in 04? I was there as our 2* from Basrah's TL? You asked me about Mick B as I recall...
 
Hi Neil, yes, that was me, nice to hear from you mate, hope all is well. Thanks for the info on Vic, do you know that the only time Mosul was really quiet was when your 'Boss' was in charge!! Could have been a lesson for the 'yanks', but they don't learn very easy!!BTW did you also know that the place you were staying was infested with fleas? How you didn't catch any thing nasty!!
 
I seem to recall the DFAC was mortared about 2 days after we'd been there!
I was a young LCpl at 160 when Dredger was there. He went off to the 'Wing' as an instructor and I believe got out from there to join Civ Pol? He was involved in a TA with an old dear coming out of Range 1 or 2 on the main road, hit her side on. Bundled her in the back of the Granada and drove her and Pete M to the hospital. Petes 9mm had just gone automatic after the searing pin snapped and he maaged to shoot himself in the leg. Mick B finished as PM5 Div, Lt Col. I think he retired to Scotland? He was OC the Wing when I went through (George McD was Ops WO) and then my boss at 177.
 
Aye, the DFAC was motared, I did my 'brave' thing, dived under the nearest vehicle and tried to make myself as small as possible, meantime there was a big 'septic' MP running around waving his 9mm in the air.Much to the amusement of the Brits and helpful bit of advice like " Give it plenty of lead mate" and "Watch you don't slip on that s*it running down yer leg" Just doing our bit for anglo Brit/yank relationships. I had heard that Mick B had gone onto bigger and better things, he was TL in Leb when I went out in 1984, he used to worry the Amb's wife when he was training, some what noisy!!! I remember when 'nutty' Pete got himself shot in the leg, I didn't realise that a human could look that white....I saw the photos....some really uncaring, unfeeling barsteward took photos of his suffering :-) He was with me in 177 around about the time that the notorious trouser dropping episode took place in the mess, but I can't recall who else was there......that will be the selective amnesia happening again!!

Niel are you tlking about drag a-rse bottomley by chance, crist he made 1/2 Col, I was on the same SPC and he had to leave for a certain court martial in Berlin if my memory serves me right and no doubt you would remember the people involved, Mick was a hostile witness, geez good luck to him, he was a good mate, Dredger was one of my Cpls in 177, the team driver an excellent guy but his fashion sense leaft a lot to be desired LOL

Yes, that'll be the same Mick B. His body started to fall apart as he took up the post, put it down to literally too much training and overdoing it over the years. So he had to give in gracefully and do nothing if he wanted to continue walking for a few more years. Had quite a taste for single malt I recall?
Dredgers fashion sense was never great, he was a good driver though and as a young LCpl living in the block with him at 160 I was always aware he rarely spent an evening alone in his room. There was always a girlfriend, someone elses girlfriend or worse with him! He was fined about 800 notes for hitting the old dear outside the range. They said as a Police Class 1 driver he should have known better. Had he not been they'd have found something else to do him for.
Pete made a good recovery, he was on his course from 160. I visited him at the CMH in Aldershot, where he stayed for a week or so. The round hit him above the kneecap and because his leg was relaxed as he came out of stance, when the pin snapped, it entered between the kneecap and joint, passed through and exited, taking just his cartlidge with it. They opened him up took out the remnants of the cartlidge, cleaned him out, there was no further injury, and he was back on the course 6 months later I believe? He just gave up the idea of doing P Coy.
 
Just a quick intro gents. I was Corp between 1984 and 1993. BAOR, Canada, NI and at the Depot in ITW for my last 2 years. Left and joined Kent Police Tactical Firerms Unit then transfered to Dumfries and Galloway police. Currently AFO and Counter Terrorist Security Advisor in SB. However the grass is not always greener on the otherside, Rgards Whisky

Sorry its took so long to get back to you. Work and my computor going US. I am still with Alex, she works in the Security Private Sector in London and i am SB in Scotland. Hows life in CP? Is it worth me leaving the Plod and going private? Give me a line when you get a chance. Its been nearly 20 years since we saw each other in Derry!

Hi, guys. spent 7 years in RMP, 2000- 2008 spent all my time in Aldershot and finished off in london. Was AES dog handler for a year before they got rid of dogs. did two lovley, LOL, tours of bosnia. Now doing surveillance for The Surveillance Group, trying to get into CP work UK/europe. J haig
