Starting the game

First of all hello, this is my first post so please be patient. I'm looking for any information anybody may have with regards to starting down tge cp path. I have been offered a job in Iraq but I will obviously need some courses under my belt, I live in Southampton so this area would be beneficial . I need cp with fpos (I), I'm not sure on what a good rate is so that be my first question to you all. My second is sia approval for licensing , I had a short spell for a minor scuffle about 8-9 years ago for which I served 11 weeks in custody will this effect my chances of gaining sia accreditation, many thanks in advance for any replies.

I'm sitting here with baited breath on that question Ivan :) :) :)

CD

Yeah me to, I had a mechanic who worked for me in Afghanistan that felt he needed to take a CPO course with TSI, even better he talked five other mechanics and welders into doing the same thing on holiday. CPO, Hostage Rescue, Driving and SV course. What ever, it was their money I guess.

The job is escorting oil workers in the rumaillah oil fields

Is this a security job you've been offered.
Or did you misread it and it's a male 'escort' gig you've signed up for.
Those oil workers get mighty lonely out there.
Either way your a danger to yourself and others in my opinion.

In reply to me being a danger to myself and anyone else! Where do you get the balls? I was making a genuine enquiry as I was hoping I was talking to ex forces such as myself and as such thought I would be met with a better reception than that, I joined up in 89 and left in 2003 serving in every conflict or scrape from the gulf, Bosnia and Sierra leonne etc so I think perhaps your perception of me being a danger to anyone would be a little uncalled for, but thanks for the negative input you clip!!!

Whoops
My mistake. Misread your request as that of a total green horn.
Lots of excuses for that but none valid really.
Well done securing a tasking in these changing times.
A good sense of humour is a requirement of any stressful tasking, hope you have one.

Course wise for what you are about to under take means the best and most relevant to the task in hand.
Not some cheap arsed course not fit for purpose, and there are many out there believe me.
The search bar top right of this page is your friend, your question has been asked and answered 'helpfully' before.

But don't dismiss the male escort work out of hand, always good to have a second string to your bow; for between jobs.

Steve,

Firstly I wish you all the luck in the world as would almost everyone on this site. I welcome you to the site. Your post has been received, I think in the manner it has, due to the information you supplied at first. It was not clear you had any military experience, unless I missed it. To get the best advice give a few more details to get a lot back.

Good luck................Nippy

Hi Steveray1972

I hope the following info will help:-

1. You need an SIA Licence CP frontline (even though it is not a legal requirement for overseas work, companies want to see it)
2. You should go on a CP course that has a Hostile Environment module and firearms package
3. FPOS-I is now looked upon as a basic course and following this training you may wish to look at MIRA
4. A company will inform you of their daily rate and leave rotation (8-4 or 9-3)
5. I'm not sure why living in Southampton is an advantage?
6. I feel you should contact SIA or look on their site regarding the pending issues that your past record could cause. It could be OK because of the timescales; however, you may need to provide Mitigating Circumstances but you would only do this if you received notification that your application is Minded to Refuse
7. You need to find your cert of service/testimonial as this is likely to be requested by the employer

Good luck,

JHD
Here is the link to the relevant section on the SIA site, which will take you through to their criminal record indicator

CP course and FPOS(I) now completed, I'm currently waiting on my results from the SIA. I feel quite confident in having done well but will reserve my judgement until the letter drops on the doormat.

I wouldn't worry mate, you're intelligent enough to operate an iPhone and CPW App and have a decent grasp of English - you'll pass their poxy exam no problem

Certificates are in, just waiting on a start date now, visas are a pain in the arse at the moment but what can you do?
