April Jones "abduction"

Gents. Ladies, this site has a wealth of expertise, manpower (make that woman power as well) who could assist in searching the terain searching for this little girl.

if this search continues into the weekend, i am just wondering how many members could make themselfs available to turn up and undertake co-ordinated searches?

we have the members here with the kit the ability and the determination to search areas described as trecherous by the police and assist the rescue teams on site.

any thoughts on this?

Bravo sir, an outstanding idea. I suppose one problem is that members are frequently scattered all over the globe, for example I leave for the USA on Saturday. However, full credit to you for being proactive and I really hope members get behind your suggestion. I have a little girl of similar age, if I was in the country I'd be there in a heartbeat.

AMCMW. although people are scattered around the globe, we have a huge membership here in the UK and a lot of expertise that i hope can help. Search teams have been hard at iot now for 4 days and must be getting fatigued by now. we have fit lads with kit that can help cover some of the more difficult terain

You've picked up on one part of my post and seemingly ignored the rest. To repeat, I think it's an excellent idea and I wish you the very best of luck.

The difficulty would be making sure that all concerned were reliable and had the right experience, not just fitness levels but also experience of that type of terrain. I suppose as SIA licence would be some indication that they weren't too dodgy, but someone would have to assess that they were used to similar terrain, could read a map navigate and know how to survive in the bad weather. I can do all that but I have no qualifications that say that, so it might have to be limited to those with certain quals.

Are you volunteering to vet and co-ordinate volunteers Phecta? Seems you'd be well placed to do that. I think you'd have to ask for expressions of interest then approach the police in the area saying how many suitably qualified bodies you could provide if they are needed.

guys, you are right that it would be a great idea to set up some sort of search team, however you have got to remember the area is very mountainous. I grew up just around there, small place called tywyn (i am in no way welsh.., I am a leicester lad!!!). There are specialist teams in the area who have access to heli's and such like which can operate search and rescue. However this isn't a search and rescue.
Yes there may be a body somewhere, a pile of clothes, something like that. However more realistically the van will be in a shed and the child in a house. The area is full of old abandoned buildings. Other roads which are rarely accessible and difficult to get a bike down let alone a van.

Its fantastic you are being so proactive, however there are persons there - not the police, who will already be doing a search in long formed teams. It will sadly take too long to get persons out there and start up properly.

I wish the safe return of april along side the one day resolution of madeleine mccann

Given that the suspect is in custody and the police are interviewing him. It appears with all the appeals from the police he is not helping the police in their investigations. If I'm clear on press reports the police have been given extra time to interview this guy. In most cases the person is known to the victim. The minority of cases involve a complete stranger. My prayer is that she comes home in good health. If the hours after someone is reported missing the longer it takes the longer the hopes of her being alive takes.

My daughter is three and a half years old and has started foundation at the C of E Church where we attend. It took 2 weeks for her to stay all day. It is harder on me to leave her as she has been with me since she was a baby. I'm a stay at home parent. Every day my heart breaks. I can't imagine some focker doing something to harm her.

Again, I pray for her safe return and the responsible parties left to rot in prison.

As a parent my heart bleeds for April's parents, the horrible truth is looming I fear as the days pass.

Looks like the abduction investigations has turned into a murder investigation - obviously the worst possible outcome and one that I sadly think was inevitable.

They are asking for the civvy search teams to stop their activites for obvious reasons so it's just a question of time.

Very sad news and thoughts go out to the family and community.

Hurts me to think about that little girl and potentially what happened, even more so if you have kids and understand the bond you have with your children.

That **** needs hooking up to the national grid and set upon with a blow torch and some pliers. He would be singing like a canary in 2 minutes.

I fully agree with everything that has been said above. I hope they get a prosecution against this bloke and he rots in hell.

What is starting to worry me now is all the press coverage. This blokes's picture is all over the papers, the news and the internet. Is his lawyer going to say that he won't get a fair trial because of all the press coverage? We even have the police wearing pink ribbons on their uniforms to show their solidarity. Unfortunately, will this be exploited by a lawyer, who is going to be paid from the public purse, to defend the scum who has taken this beautiful little girl? They will be bleating about unfair trial etc.

Don't get me wrong, I want the scum to die a slow painful death. But that is not the case in this country. He will have a fair trial and someone is going to try and get him off. Didn't we have some other case like this a little while ago? are there any legal minded people here to clarify this point for me?

saying my prayers for you April.

Obviously he's not going to get a fair trial as you and other posters on here are convinced that he is guilty, some are convinced enough to say they would torture him if they got their hands on him. I really hope that he is guilty and that the police do have the right man, but cases involving child abductions and murders tend to get the emotions going. It has been known for the police to be convinced they have the right man when they don't.

There have been other cases with extensive media coverage where the trial has gone ahead. The difference with a trial is that evidence for the defence will be presented as well as evidence for the prosecution, with the media all we get is whatever makes a good story and there is no section of the media that is beyond making things up. If the press has made things up then the defence will counter those stories and they will twist the coverage to their own advantage by pointing out if any witness had seen anything, even an unrelated crime that he had done then they would have come forward because of all the coverage.

I really hope that if he is guilty then the police have some convincing evidence.

Excellent post littlewoman. I am not sure if I deliberately posted my message in the words above or I myself, fell into the trap I was warning of. This bloke's life is finished. He will not dare to walk the streets of the UK again if there is no evidence to charge him. He will have to be given a new identity and pots of money to relocate elsewhere in the world.

saying my prayers for you April

I don`t think the Police would have released his name knowing it would put his safety at risk if there is a chance he was innocent , the idiotic press might have done but not the Police.

"Mark Bridger has been charged with the murder and abduction of missing five-year-old April Jones.

The announcement was made ahead of a news conference led by Dyfed Powys Police and the Crown Prosecution Service in Aberystwyth.

Mr Bridger has also been charged with perverting the course of justice.

He will be held in custody until he appears in court at Aberystwyth Justice Centre on Monday."
