BBC documentary request

BBC Request:

The quote below us from the BBC reporter not me.

“I am making a documentary for the BBC about the private security industry overseas. It is only when working with the men involved in this industry – and I have worked with many of them - that you realise the extent of their professionalism and the sheer bravery they demonstrate, often in the most difficult of circumstances. Yet these qualities at are odds, it seems, with the image the public perceives of the industry as a whole.

The documentary will look at the private security industry, the kind of guys who work in it, explore the often natural progression for many from the military to the private sector, their experiences of working in hostile environments, what happens when one is injured or killed, the support given to the PSC or their family by the government – if any – if the PSC has been carrying out work for a government contract, the role of the multi-national companies involved, the self-regulation of the industry etc.

I am keen to speak to as many people as possible who have particularly strong feelings about any of the above, or have a specific story to tell. I appreciate entirely the need for discretion and that would be respected absolutely."

Email CM at admin@closeprotectionworld.com if you wish to speak to the reporter.

Isn't that more of a reason for a credible operator to talk to him so the Walts are outed or at least recognised!?

I'm only assuming you're a credible Operator there Gorilla - I'm sure you are though!

I'll be interested to see the finsihed product eitherway.

Stay safe

I can understand some guys reluctance.

Talking to a journo, or appearing on camera is NOT for everyone. I'd certainly steer clear of most of the tabloid press, and I'd check the credentials and 'on-air' material of anyone in the TV industry.

The BBC has a pretty good record of truth and accuracy, contrary to the opinions of some of the printed press.

If you've got the confidence and communication skills to do it, AND come across as reasonably intelligent, presentable, etc. Go for it !

:)

You know..? I have this picture stencilled in my grey matter archive and I still remember my thoughts at the time. I was sitting outside the SF helicopter bay (47) in BIA after having used and abused both their Gym and Sewing machines (yes I possess those hidden talents) converting body armour covers for some of the guys, and whilst watching the sun set with a great cup of tea on my Jack! a US Chopper (60 Blackhawk) hovered and touched down... the door slid back to reveal 4 women, suited and booted to the hilt... and they looked the business, I have to admit I was completely gob smacked because to be frank I came through the military when women still sat behind desks... I was told later these young ladies were FBI making their way either to Bukka or another establishment just to the North east and this had been an unplanned stop... It bears no relevance to this post but the 'Image' was very striking! and let's be honest? some of the ladies cut the mustard, don't they? CD

There was a young female in Uni back in 2004 who for her dissitation made a doco featuring her boyfriend at the time, and some of the guys who were in the same company, and it was about Iraq, and Baghdad at the time, which was pretty mental at the time. I watched it once it was done, it was done well, and did not present us all as the gung ho baby eaters that some media would portray us to be at the time, although I've not eaten a baby since 2006, I'm sure if it was the same person who now works for the BBC she would be factual and positive..
Reference the hot ladies, there used to be a blonde FBI chick who would wear underarmour tops in the PX on Victory, who had at least a dozen open mouthed baby eaters following her, she was tasty and she knew it.. also a couple of nice "Agency" chicks would turn up at the villa pool parties there's nothing sexier than lip glossed, tousled blond hair, size 10 figures, and packing a Sig 226 on their hips :D
