Suggested introduction template is below

Q. Do you represent a company?
A. No

Q. What area's in the Security Industry are you interested in?
A. CP inc Hostile Env

Q. What do you hope to get from the forum?
A. An insight into whether I change careers and move into the CP world

Q. Tell our members something about yourself?
A. I am a serving Police Officer with 11 years in who has always wanted to do CP work. Trouble is, being a Police Officer is a secure job, but CP work is what I've always wanted to do. I am unable to 'dip a toe in the water' as I am not allowed to carry out private security work whilst I am a sworn officer. I am not allowed to work on a career break either. Getting into CP work in the Police is difficult and 90% of your time is spent as a traffic officer as ARV and Traffic are dual roles here. So this is a dilemna I am hoping to solve!

I also run a self-protection training company - Urban Self-Protection - a mix of Krav Maga, Reality Based Personal Protection, ***************************************************************

Q. How did you find our website Close Protection World?
A. Just a google search

Q. Finally pete144144, please add anything else you like below and thankyou for your introduction ....
A. Just to say that whilst doing my research into this field, I have heard nothjing but good things about LONGMOOR. I visited them recently and found them to be very professsional, very credible and very knowledgable about training methodology. Should I chose to change careers, they will certainly be the company I train with.

I am trying to add a poll to this but as I am new, I'm not sure Ive got the knack! My poll would be - should I stay in the Police, or change careers based on the above????

I voted stay .................. the first 20 years are the worst matey

is your business interest decalered? ;)

Welcome to the forum. Your choice but it's a precarious living . No real stability and if you have bills to pay and mouths to feed I'd say stay in the force , but it's down to what you feel about it and how much support you'd get if you went the CP route. Good luck .

Hey thanks everyone - that's exactly why Ive joined up - for opinions from those who know about the business.

Thanks Otto - you're not Professional Standards are you?! Thanks for the concern - all above board and declared!

Laughin matey ............... not rubber heels no!

stay put mate CP isn't the dogs most think it is ;)

Unlike police or army, youre on your own, trying to protect from a civilian position.
No cavalary coming over the hill to rescue you when your in the sticky stuff.
Likely to be disarmed by local authorities/police/army and left to the mercy of hostiles.Disliked by the media, mistrusted by the locals. No real authority or protection.
Often mistaken for hostiles by military and police! Abroad this means they shoot at you!
Whats your dilema mate. Obvious choice is CP work!! Good luck.

Grow a set and take a chance you only get one crack of the whip (ask Annie:cool:) in this life
Who wants to be a copper anyway:eek:
No one ever made success without taking risks:rolleyes:

Call me a little slow if you wish..? but I fail to understand the conflict or the difference between any contact that you may have with the commerical sector and running your own business in industry..? adjacent to a Police career..!

CD

And... welcome BTW

I'd say stay mate....

I vote stay.
Plenty time to do it when your older, after you've made inspector.
Your pension will supplement the low wages and fill in for the sporadic work rate.
But then again who knows ?? You may be the ONE.

welcome to the forum mate. it's one of those decisions that only you can make i'm sure your happy in your current job so do what you think is right for you. Good luck with what you decide

PC to CPO

I think it's too much of an open question.

Would the police officer in question work within the CPU, or do they work in a completely different field?

Welcome to the forum Pete.

(Quote) but CP work is what I've always wanted to do. (Unquote)

If this is how you Really feel Pete. Then don't mull on it too long, make a decision and 'crack on.'

All the best for the future.
